13 Secret Places Your Family Can Visit In Disneyland – If You Know How

Even though 16 million guests flock to visit the world-famous theme park each year, Disneyland vacations have a reputation for being dull.

There’s the teacups, the castle, It’s a Small World, and not much else to see, right? Wrong.

If you know where to look and what to say, you can visit a number of secret Disneyland attractions.

Luckily, we have the know-how you need:

Of course it’s hard to miss the small movie theater on the park’s Main Street, but most guests assume it’s only a sign on an empty building.

In fact, you can watch cartoons in the cool, air-conditioned building all day. And the theater is normally empty, so it’s a great place to relax and catch your breath.

It turns out Walt Disney had his own private place to rest inside the theme park: a hidden apartment above the Fire House on Main Street.

If you’re lucky, you can get a private tour of the restored apartment, which is usually closed to the public. But you can always see the light left on by the second floor window, in Disney’s honor.

While you’re in line for the park’s steamboat, the Mark Twain, ask a park cast member to see the ship’s second floor.

Orange County Register

If you’re lucky, they’ll invite you up to the pilot room, where you can meet the captain, steer the boat, blow the whistle and ring the bell.

As you line up for the famous ride, you can see just a glimpse of the park’s spooky and silly pet cemetery. Ask a cast member for the tour and they will sometimes let you get a close look at the tombstones.

Some of the graves reference Disney movies, while others (like Lilac the Skunk) are just for fun.

There are a pair of special train-related locations to visit, but this is definitely the easiest to arrange.

Ask a cast member at the Disneyland Railroad if you can hitch a ride on the tender car. A tender car carries water and fuel, and the one on the park’s train is just behind the steam engine, with a special two-person jump seat right next to the conductor.

Unfortunately, if the cast members need to access the tender car’s storage (or don’t feel like letting you ride on it) they will say no.

After a few hours of listening to screaming children, standing in lines, and walking in the sun, parents need a break. There are lots of benches to sit on, but one quiet rest area takes the cake.

Around the back of the Silly Symphony Swings gazebo, there’s a shady, water-side deck with benches. The perfect place to rest your feet for a few minutes.

Just to the right of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, there’s a small attraction that most guests miss entirely.

On your way to the Matterhorn ride from the castle, there’s a pleasant waterfall with Snow White and the dwarfs on display. But the coolest feature is the wishing well. Lean in very close and you just might hear something

Disney Movies Are All Missing A Key Character, And The Reason Behind It Is Heartbreaking

Disney movies are renowned for having the perfect happily ever after ending.

The characters are lovable and oftentimes relatable. Mind you, they seem to have the best and most perfect lives filled with adventure, love, and beautiful friendships. So it’s no wonder that kids fantasize about being their favorite Disney princess.

Growing up, there was no stopping me from loving these films. I actually became more aware of all the little details now, which I missed when watching Disney movies as a kid.

For example, that scene in the Lion King where Zazu is flying over sand dunes shaped like female breasts… That’s not something you notice at the age of six. To be honest, I noticed that when I rewatched the film with my two toddlers a few years ago.

There is one question that’s popped in my head every time I’ve watched these movies, whether it be Disney’s Cinderella from 1950 or Frozen from 2013.

There’s a key character that’s missing from the lives of these princesses: their mother. That’s when their seemingly perfect lives started crumbling in my mind.

The theory behind why they all princesses have non-existent mother figures will break your heart…

Disneyland Is Getting Extra Magical With New Craft Brewery

If you have ever taken your children to the Magic Kingdom, then you’ll know how exhausting it can be. Running around the park, standing in line, playing games, standing in line, seeing Disney characters…while you stand in line.

It can really take it out of you to follow your kid around all day, and sometimes you wish you could grab a quick beer at lunch time to help the day go by.

Unfortunately, that has been impossible for decades. When Walt Disney opened the first park in 1955 he gave specific instructions that enforced a zero-tolerance policy on alcohol.

It didn’t matter if you were eligible under Californian law, it took decades for certain restaurants inside the park to even allow small glasses of wine to be served.

Well, that attitude appears to be changing, and now you’ll be able to crack open a cold one in fantasy land! Just don’t have it before riding Space Mountain!

Costco Cashier Had The Perfect Reaction When Sisters Said He Looks Like A Disney Character

They say you can find anything at Costco, and at the big box store’s Kapolei, Hawaii location that includes demigods.

Radio host Rella Rivera says her daughters Ryley (eight) and Rylyn (five) can’t wait for their weekly grocery trip to Costco after discovering that one of their favorite Disney characters works at the checkout line.

The girls couldn’t hide their excitement.Rella Rivera

Rivera captured the adorable moment when her daughters freaked out over their favorite cashier, asking them “Who’s that?”

“It’s Maui!” they shouted back.

If you have children or grandchildren you’ll definitely see the resemblance between Costco cashier Va’ana and Maui, the tattooed demigod with attitude from Disney’s Moana.

The resemblance is striking.Rella Rivera / Disney

Va’ana has the hair, the looks, and even the tattoos to be the spitting image of Maui. And apparently this isn’t the first time customers have pointed it out to him.

When he saw Ryley and Rylyn’s reaction, Va’ana invited them to join him on the other side of the cash register for a totally adorable moment.

8 Supporting Cartoon Characters That Deserve Their Own Movies

For the last several decades kids have grown up watching their favorite Disney and Pixar movies, falling in love with the characters as the trials and tribulations of their lives play out on the screen. Most of the time the protagonist gets all of the limelight, but they wouldn’t be half of what they are without the supporting characters helping the story along. With that being said, there are definitely some of these supporting characters that deserve their own spin-off movies.

Let’s take a look at 8 of these characters that I would absolutely take my children to the theaters to see take center stage.

Rex is such a lovable character from the Toy Story franchise. His manic personality and unique sense of humor make him one of the more important secondary characters from the series. Imagine where the toys would be if they didn’t have Rex’s pointy tail around to help them escape the garbage bag on route to the end of the driveway.

I have had to sit through the movie Tangled more times than I can count, I virtually know the characters lines by heart. One of the greatest aspects of the movie is Rapunzel’s silent pet chameleon Pascal. He is hilarious and seems to be one of the smarter characters from the movie. One question that was never answered was how Pascal and Rapunzel came to be such close friends? I can see an epic story coming out of that.

Dug is one of the most hilariously written characters in the Disney Pixar universe. He fits perfectly into the story being told in Up, and realistically his jovial and fun loving personality would fit well in any type of story. Frankly, I am surprised that more hasn’t already been done with the character, kids love him.

The concept behind this movie is truly breathtaking, and even I loved sitting down to watch it. One of the best secondary characters appears when we are introduced to Riley’s imaginary friend Bing Bong. He is one of the few characters who exists both inside and outside of Riley’s mind, and he is the true hero of the story once he sacrifices himself to ensure that Joy escapes from the Memory Dump. Let’s see a stand alone Bing Bong movie!

Kristen Bell Just Got a Hilarious Reality Check From Her Daughters

Kristen Bell’s daughters clearly have a favorite Frozen princess, and they aren’t shy about their feelings.

The mother-of-two shared a picture of a plastic Christmas tree ornament that was destroyed by her daughters.

“Here’s what I didn’t realize: Fellow moms, your kids, if they can reach the decorations, will f**k you over, because what they’ve done is they’ve taken all the reindeer and the Santa Claus, and they’ve taken them all off the shelves, and they’ve put marker all over everything,” she revealed with a laugh. “They’ve pulled the garland down — there’s paint chipping because you’ve used those tabs to hang the garland up — they’ve pulled on all of it, everything is everywhere, there are bulbs all over my house. I had to get rid of all the glass ornaments, it’s a nightmare. So, I’m realizing all the decorations have to be at least waist-high.”

Well, she clearly didn’t take her own advice after her kids got close to an ornament that struck a cord with the actress.

‘Frozen’ Short Film Pulled From Theaters After Backlash From Parents

Parents know that Frozen is a hit with kids worldwide, but many moms and dads are actually celebrating after a new short featuring characters from the movie has been axed.

Last week, audiences rushed to see the new Pixar film Coco, a magical, musical adventure inspired by Mexico’s “Day of the Dead” festivities. The animated family film beat huge superhero movies at the box office, and has raked in more than $100 million nationwide in less than two weeks.

Pixar’s ‘Coco.’Pixar

And while families are falling in love with the flick, parents are sharing their frustration with the Frozen short film that runs before it.

Pixar movies traditionally start with a 10 minute short film that runs before the movie, usually something cheerful and fun to help young kids settle in to the movie-going experience. But the studio’s latest short film, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, rubbed parents the wrong way, and they weren’t afraid to say so.

So what was so objectionable about the new Frozen short?

Each Winnie The Pooh Character Was Written To Represent A Mental Illness, Which One Did You Relate To

My dad used to read me The Stories of Christopher Robin when I was a kid, my family happens to own a first edition copy of the book that gets passed down to successive generations. It is one of my fondest childhood memories, but I never clued in to what the meaning behind the characters throughout the stories were.

It appears that the characters all represent a different mental illness. Eyeore is obvious, but now that I really think about it, it all makes perfect sense. Let’s take a look at what is potentially bothering the rest of the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood.

It is pretty clear that Pooh Bear struggles with ADHD, among others, but severe ADHD appears to be the main concern. His scattered thoughts, disorganized lifestyle, randomness and constant forgetfulness all scream ADHD to me.

Oh My Disney

No matter how many Winnie the Pooh stories I read my kids, or the number of shows I watch with them, I can count the number of time I have seen Eyeore happy on one hand. He is always sad or depressed, and he is likely the saddest character in the history of children’s books. It is clear he suffers from severe depression.

Oh My Disney

The son of Kanga, Roo seems to display symptoms of being on the autism spectrum. Roo seems to operate on two opposite ends; sometimes he doesn’t pay attention to anything that is going on around him, and he ends up in somewhat dangerous situations. Other times he decides to sit quietly in his mom’s pouch, completely ignoring the world around him. This says potential autism to me.

If there was ever a textbook case for anxiety, Piglet would have his picture below the definition. He is constantly worried about what might happen, and sudden surprises like noises and movements cause him to run and hide. Piglet enjoys things to be calm and simple.

7 Most Romantic Moments From Disney To Make You Believe In Love Again

While the company has moved away from exclusively relationship-based story lines, we can’t deny that most of our fairy-tale dreams of romance come straight from the script of our favorite Disney movies!

There’s something about how the main characters seem fated to be together that we believed we could find destiny within our own lives, too. And when they seemed to fall apart, we cried at the TV until Disney magic swooped in and gave us back the true love story we knew would always find a way through.

Here are the moments that made us tear-up and laugh with delight when we saw them happen, again, and again…and again!

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nWNXO3CZkU?feature=oembed]

Probably the most iconic scene of a forbidden love in our generation. This movie made us believe that if two dogs from vastly different lifestyles could come together and enjoy the simple things in life, maybe we could all find that special someone to slide the last meatball over for.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25QyCxVkXwQ?feature=oembed]

After losing their childhood BFF, when Simba and Nala found each other (Thanks for taking one for the team, Timon and Pumbaa) we were all anxious to see if it would like old times again. At first, it was, and maybe seeing them jump around and play made their relationship all the more special because they always had that young love.

But when they start splashing about in the waterfall, and chasing each other through the fields and forest, finally catching each other again at the end…it’s just…so beautiful!

In another romance built from two worlds apart, we found ourselves understanding why Aladdin felt he needed to prove that he was so much more than a common boy, but knew that in the end, he just had to be himself in order to truly have the love of his princess.

This is never the more true than when he stops trying to flash his gold and belongings and just decides to have fun with Jasmine. In order for love to be found in this universe, it must be naturally found between two curious hearts!

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfUkhR1E5oM?feature=oembed]

I actually think that this was one of my favorite movies from the Disney canon, it was the way that everything could have gone so right for the young demi-god, but it unless he made a life for himself, his accomplishments meant nothing.

That’s why it wasn’t the scores of villains that he defeated, or the fame he received, or even the way he selflessly threw himself into the pits of Tartarus to save her, no. Meg and Hercules found their true love for one another when he gave up everything he thought the wanted in life in order to be mortal with her.

“But a life without Meg, even an immortal life, would be… empty.” YES HERC!

The tears are already streaming down our faces, but we can’t stop now. Let’s keep going!

John Stamos And Fiancee Are Getting Their Fairy-Tale Ending

If you were hoping to one day be the beau that brings home John Stamos, I’m afraid you are now officially too late. But maybe you can feel better knowing that the famous actor and his betrothed are quite possibly the cutest couple in Hollywood right now!

Stamos and his new fiancee, Caitlin McHugh, announced their engagement at the end of October and the more we find out, the more we can’t get enough of these two!

The Fuller House star first dropped clues that he was actively seeing someone a little over a year and a half ago, when he was on The View and casually mentioned how he was messaging his girlfriend during a concert he was playing with the Beach Boys.

“The other night [during a concert], I grabbed my phone ’cause this girl I’m dating … she loves this song, ‘Disney Girls.’ So I put on FaceTime. … I thought I could get away with but people were tweeting, ‘Who are you FaceTiming?!’ ”

The dashing groom-to-be popped the question at Disneyland, the couples favorite theme park, after showing her a film edited together to show the most romantic moments of Disney and Pixar movies.

So what makes her ‘The One’ for him?

10 Songs From Kids Movies That All Parents Find Themselves Singing When They Least Expect It

If you’re a parent you know exactly what I am talking about. With four daughters I have been subjected to countless hours of Disney and Pixar animation, and everything else that comes along with it, including the songs throughout those movies.

Even long after my kids have gone to bed and I’m doing dishes, or when I am driving by myself, I will find myself signing these songs that have been hammered into my head. It’s a hazard of parenting.

I apologize in advance if you had managed to get these songs out of your heads, before having this article put them right back in there. Here are 10 Disney songs that you just can’t seem to get out of your head.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afzmwAKUppU?feature=oembed]

It’s a classic and too catchy not to sing along to.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB5ceAruYrI?feature=oembed]

You don’t even have to have kids to know all of the words in this song, everyone knows Hakuna Matata.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9MvdMqKvpU?feature=oembed]

Take this song out of the movie and it still isn’t half bad.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrRbB-qUJfY?feature=oembed]

This reggae style song is still pretty catchy.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kl4hJ4j48s?feature=oembed]

If only we all sounded as smooth as Aladdin and Jasmine when we belted out this song.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVcLIfSC4OE?feature=oembed]

Yup, this song was pretty good too.

Now that we’ve looked at the classics, let’s sing along with the more modern songs…

Disney Reveals Full Cast Of ‘The Lion King’ Remake

Last fall, while we were all reeling from the remake of The Jungle Book and anticipating the release of the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, Disney announced plans to give The Lion King the same live-action treatment that the other classics got.

Lately, Disney has found success in re-imagining their old movies. Beauty and the Beast raked in over $1 billion, so it is a no-brainer that they’re taking on one of the best animated movies next.

The company confirmed that Jon Favreau, the director behind the latest Jungle Book film, will spearhead the project, but at the time they did not provide us with information about the cast or a release date.

Now, over a year since Disney spilled the beans, we finally know when the movie will hit theaters and who will be starring in it.

Many fans had hoped that the original cast would reunite for the remake because honestly, it’s hard to imagine Simba without Jonathan Taylor Thomas’ raspy voice or Rowan Atkinson as Zazu, but sadly only James Earl Jones will reprise is role as Mufasa.

With that said, the new cast features some major talent and we’re absolutely excited to see them bring one of our favorite movies to life again.

So who made the cut?

8 Cartoons Parents Like Even More Than Their Kids Do

As a parent, I have been subjected to more than my fair share of animated kid’s movies and shows that do nothing but numb my brain into a television induced coma. This is especially true when it comes to some classic animated films.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes one of these movies aimed specifically at kids is just so good, that we as adults can get away with watching it, and enjoying it, as adults even without our children.

If you happen to be a parent in the same boat as me, I assure you that these are worth watching.

This movie was absolutely spectacular. I sat down with my kids when they were already half way through the movie. Once it was finished and I had put my daughters to bed I went back downstairs and started it over from the beginning. I was constantly laughing, the characters are well developed, the story is believable, and the music from this movie is amazing. Even if you don’t have any kids this is worth watching.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHZneOidj9A?feature=oembed]

This movie was actually nominated for two academy awards, and those nominations were well deserved. The film’s animation is amazing, the story is great, and the recognizable voices (Craig Ferguson, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, and starring Jay Baruchel make it all the more enjoyable. There is just enough adult humor that the kids won’t understand to have us laughing constantly and the fight scenes are also great. And really, who has never dreamed of riding a dragon?

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfCq0QVvrSY?feature=oembed]

Lightening McQueen’s character was written extremely well. You start off hating him but end up going on a roller coaster ride until we can’t help but root for him. The secondary character and the setting make for a very entertaining watch. It plays well on the small-town “hillbilly” attitude as well. I recommend watching movies 1-3 in a single shot, if you have the time for it that is.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBJwWsvmxeQ?feature=oembed]

If there was only a single reason to give this movie a watch, is that it has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also won the Academy Award, Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice Movie Award, and the Annie Award for the Best Animated Feature Film. It is a clever movie aimed at looking at the diversity of the world through the journey of the first Bunny Cop on the Zootopia police force. I laughed constantly throughout the movie. I highly recommend this flick for any adult out there.
