A Dream Came True For This Waitress When Her Good Deed Was Caught On Camera

Every day, we do a few good deeds for people we don’t know.

Maybe you hold the door for a stranger, or leave extra money in the parking meter for someone else.

Normally these acts of kindness go unnoticed. But when Waffle House waitress Evoni Williams from La Marque, Texas helped one of her customers, someone was watching.

And it paid off in a big way.

Williams was at her job earlier this month when an elderly customer asked for help.

At 78 years old, and fresh out of the hospital after a case of pneumonia, Adrien Charpentier admits his hands “are not up to par.”

Charpentier asked for help slicing up the ham on his plate, and Williams was happy to oblige.

“I was just like, ‘Sure! If you need help, that’s what I am here for,'” she told CNN.

Laura Wolf

“My cook was calling my name to pick up food I had on the board, but I continued to cut his ham.”

But unbeknownst to Williams, another customer, Laura Wolf, had snapped a picture of her act of kindness.

“This may seem small but to him,” Wolf wrote about the good deed on Facebook, “I’m sure it was huge.

“I’m thankful to have seen this act of kindness and caring at the start of my day while everything in this world seems so negative.”

Obviously people agreed, because positive comments and encouraging messages for Williams poured in.

Soon, the post had been shared tens of thousands of times, and attracted the attention of La Marque’s mayor.

That’s when he returned the favor for Williams’s good deed.

Pastor Gives An Envelope Full Of Money To Everyone In His Congregation, With One Simple Instruction

Most Sundays, worshipers at the Preston Meadow Lutheran Church dig into their pocket as the collection plate is passed around.

But last week, they held out their hands for a surprising gift from the church that has everyone talking.

Pastor Paul Mussachio invited everyone in attendance to take a numbered envelope from a pile at the front of the church.

Each one was full of money – a blank check signed by the church with a value ranging from $250 to $1,000.

The pastor sent his flock home with the money as part of a project called Preston Meadow Gives, but of course there was a catch.

One of the envelopes.Rene Walls / Twitter

In a YouTube video about the event, Mussachio explains he wants to spread “joyful generosity” through the community.

“We gave them no direction over [the money,] other than to follow the lead of God and to participate in Christ’s mission of grace for this world.”

Yes, as long as they cash the check within a month and don’t give any money back to the church, the lucky men and women are free to do what they like with it.

“We are blessed to be a blessing, so look for those around you who are in need of this kind of blessing right now,” a pamphlet for the event suggests.

“People near or far to you, strangers, organizations close to your heart or our church.”

But the event isn’t just about “paying it forward” to local charities.

Mussachio revealed the surprising inspiration behind the season of giving, and it may inspire you too.

After His Wife’s Stroke, He Knew He Had To Make A Drastic Change To Help Her

Far too often, it’s easy for us to discredit the elderly and to treat them like they’re past their prime and incapable of doing things for themselves. This is before we get into topics like elder neglect and abuse, which are unfortunately all too common and often go unreported to the proper authorities.

Guff

The fact is, the elderly are just as capable of impressing you with what they can do as anybody else, if not even more so. While we’ve all had to deal with people in their lives who think that they’re “too old to learn new things” (I mean my mom was saying that even in her 40s), the fact is that you’re never too old to learn something new.

Ranker

It may take a little more effort and concentration than it would have years ago, but at the end of the day, you can absolutely teach an old dog new tricks. The catch is, that old dog’s gotta want to learn.

Case and point: when his wife of 58 years found herself unable to drive after suffering from a stroke, one man stepped up to the plate in a big way…

He Offered His Belongings For Someone To Kill Him. Instead, People Chose To Save Him.

As much as we hate to admit it, suicide is a regular occurrence in our society, and oftentimes it’s hard to even know what to do about it.

Radio Monash

Studies show that nearly 90% of people with suicidal thoughts suffer from some form of mental illness, be it as treatable as anxiety or clinical depression, or something more serious such as bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder or even post-traumatic stress disorder.

While not all of them end up acting on it, it’s an unfortunate phenomenon that will only continue as long as we don’t offer up aid to those who are suffering.

Wikimedia

Science and medicine have fortunately come a long way in treating conditions like this, and there are plenty of both medical and psychological solutions to these conditions, such as taking medication or going to counseling.

Unfortunately, it can often be difficult for people suffering from these conditions to seek help, as they may either feel like they don’t deserve it, or it may be too expensive for them to afford, or they might not even truly realize that what they’re feeling isn’t normal.

It’s times like this that people suffering can often use a helping hand, and in the case of one man from Australia, things had really reached a critical point: he was literally advertising for someone to kill him.

Homeless Man Stands In Front Of Walmart With A Heartbreaking Sign, Until One Woman Stops To Help

If you live in or around a big city, chances are you walk by homeless people holding signs every day.

As generous as we can be, most of us just ignore the requests for help and charity that we see on the sidewalk. But when Wilma Price saw a homeless man holding a heartbreaking sign outside of her local Walmart, she took action.

Something made Wilma Price stop and help the man.CBS News

The woman from Huntsville, Texas noticed a scruffy-looking man with a cardboard sign outside the store. Written on it in big, black letters were the words “DOG IN POUND NEED HELP.”

Price had just $8 in her pocket, so at first she just walked right by the man. But something made her stop and turn around. Price runs her own animal shelter, and she can never turn down an animal in need.

Patrick had no money to get his dog out of the shelter.Wilma Price

After speaking to the homeless man, Price learned his sad story. His name was Patrick, and after being arrested for trespassing and sent to jail, his dog, Franklin, had been taken to a nearby animal shelter.

They would release the animal to Patrick, but only after he paid $120, which of course he didn’t have.

Price agreed to help Patrick, but first she made him take a special test.

She Was Distressed About Money, But Then Woke Up To Find A Gift From A Stranger

Financial problems are an issue that just about every person faces at some point in their life, but to those actively going through it, that fact can seem like little comfort.

Imgur

It’s very, very difficult to focus on nearly anything else when money is proving to be a constant problem for you. The concern about it is all-consuming, and the worst part of it is that the solutions are often nowhere near as simple as some make it out to be. Saving for the future can be difficult when you’re living paycheck to paycheck, and things like loans and lines of credit can potentially bleed your finances even more dry than you might have without them.

My Health

Pretty much everybody faced with financial troubles dreams of finding an easy way out of them. Winning the lottery, a rich relative you didn’t know about leaving all of their possessions to you, a surprise gift, just about any of them are completely unlikely, but hey, a person can dream.

Parker Bros

While this case might not be quite that fantastic, it’s enough to warm our hearts. A young woman was discussing her stress over her finances over the phone while on a train, and after taking a nap, she woke up to discover that someone had left her a surprise gift…

Months After Pleading For Help At Disney World, He Finally Received The Kidney He Needed

Back in August of 2017, we reported on one of the unlikeliest of medical stories. A man, 60-year-old Robert Leibowitz, was spotted with his five children at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, specifically because of the strange shirt that he was wearing.

Roco Sandoval

As he pushed one of his children along in a wheelchair, several people noticed the back of Leibowitz’s shirt, which featured a simple but powerful message:

“In Need Of Kidney O Positive,” and listed a phone number.

Robert Leibowitz

Leibowitz was suffering from kidney failure and was having no luck finding a donor, which led to his daughter coming up with the plan to try advertising this on the shirt. “It is very hard to get a kidney and there are not a lot of donors out there,” Leibowitz explained, “or with O positive (blood type). I am universal, but I have to get an O back.”

It was soon spotted by Rocio and Juan Sandoval, a couple who were vacationing at the park, and the two not only listened to Leibowitz’s story, but offered to share his message across social media for him.

Robert Leibowitz

While Leibowitz simply hoped that the message might reach a few hundred more people, it soon went massively viral on the internet and exploded, leading to him apparently receiving dozens of calls from potential donors who thought they might be able to help.

After a bonafide viral sensation and months of screenings, Leibowitz found his donor, and just last week, he finally received his kidney.

War Couldn’t Stop Him, But A Dentist’s Generosity Brought This Veteran To Tears

Ask Dr. David Nguyen how he met retired Staff Sergeant David Harmon and he’ll tell you they met at the gym, but it seems like fate played a big part too.

After getting to know each other during their workouts, the dentist from Houston, Texas invited Harmon to come to his clinic for a cleaning. But when the veteran opened his mouth, the dentist was stunned.

KTVU

“I came in for a cleaning and he’s like, ‘My goodness!'” Harmon remembers. “And then I start telling him about all the pain I’m in.”

While serving as a language instructor in the Air Force, Harmon suffered a number of accidents that left him with serious head trauma. That caused stress, insomnia, and memory loss so serious he would forget his wife’s name.

But the most painful symptom was teeth grinding, which left Harmon with cracked teeth and infected gums.

KTVU

Nguyen explained that repairing the damage would cost at least $15,000, but told his new friend he would give him a generous 70% discount. But when Harmon left the office, he told the receptionist he still couldn’t afford his bill.

That’s when Nguyen stepped in, and changed Harmon’s life forever.

Kanye West Makes Young Fan’s Dying Wish Come True

Kanye West made a fan’s dying wish come true when he privately rapped her favorite song to her.

Often depicted in the media as aggravating, dramatic, and self-absorbed, West showed his softer side when he FaceTimed a young girl who was dying from cancer.

According to TMZ, when West heard the pre-teen’s parents were trying to reach him, he didn’t hesitate to give her a call.

The pair chatted on the phone, before West rapped her favorite, “I love Kanye” from his most recent album, Life of Pablo, for her.

Most surprising of all, the rapper wasn’t the one who leaked the news of his secret encounter.

Sheriff’s Deputy Goes To Give Homeless Man A Citation, Instead He Helps Him Get His Life Back On Track

Sheriff’s Deputy Swallwell was going about his business when he got word that a homeless man was panhandling on the freeway off-ramp. He went out to go give him a citation, but when he spoke the man he had a change of heart.

Michael Myers was greeted by the officer and said that he told him, “you can’t be on this freeway anymore and I’m going to write you a ticket.” But as they started to speak, Deputy Swallwell realized that a ticket wasn’t going to help anything.

“I started to get to know more about him and I realized he didn’t need a citation, he needed someone to help him,” Swalwell said. Myers was unlike other panhandlers he had met. He had no criminal record, no substance abuse issues and he had tried several times to get off the streets.

“He told me, ‘no you don’t understand. I’ve done it before. I get turned away. I’ve applied for benefits before, but I don’t have ID so I can’t get any assistance.’” Swalwell explained. It was at this point that he decided he was going to do more than just let him off with a warning, he was going to do everything he could to help him get his life back on track…

Former Navy Seal Donates His Liver To A Complete Stranger After Seeing Her Desperate Facebook Plea

Melinda Ray was suffering from a genetic disease that was quickly destroying her liver. She had been trying to find a donor, but no one was working out. Her husband James told ABC News, “We had just had candidate after candidate being ruled out, and symptoms were progressing. They were progressing fast. The days were getting harder.”

She was becoming increasingly desperate, unsure of how she would carry on. The mother of three made one last appeal to her Facebook friends, asking them to consider getting tested to be a match. All of her friends and family passed along her message, until one day a complete stranger saw the post.

ABC News

Robin Ihnfeldt was friends with Melinda’s sister and she heard that Ray was unable to find a donor. She told her husband, Jeff Bramstedt, about Ray’s trouble and without hesitating he volunteered his own liver.

The former Navy SEAL’s wife said, “He’s always been an amazing man. He hears bullets and he runs into these situations.”

Jeff Bramstedt

The doctors warned him that it would be risky. “There’s a lot of things that can go wrong, including the risk of dying,” Dr. Elizabeth Pomfret said. He had a lot to consider, but it didn’t take him long to make his choice…

7-Year-Old Asks Santa For A Blanket, And The Response Brought Us To Tears

While many children sit down to write their letter to Santa, asking for the hottest toy, a new Xbox or one of those Fingerling things, 7-year-old Crystal Pacheco had something else in mind.

When the 7-year-old from Texas wrote her letter to Santa, she asked for some things that wouldn’t even come to mind of most kids her age.

Asking for basic necessities, including food and a blanket, this first-grader broke the heart of her teacher.

Today

With the help of social media, it was not only her teacher that saw her letter, it was the entire world that heard her wish.

Homeless Man’s Good Deed Rewarded After He Guarded A Car In The Rain For Two Hours

Have you ever left something in your car that by all accounts, you probably really shouldn’t have? I’m not talking about pets or children in this case (which you shouldn’t leave unattended in your car for entirely different reasons), but rather something that could very well result in your car getting broken into because of its presence there.

iTaxi

We’ve all done it at some point; you’re in a rush, you’ve been fighting traffic for the last hour or two, you grab everything that seems important, and dash out of your car towards whatever meeting or gig has your attention that day. Of course, about halfway into your day, you go to reach for something in your pocket (your wallet, your cell phone etc.) only to discover that, OH NO, it’s in the car. And now you have to speed back downstairs and out to your car, all the while praying to whatever you consider holy that your car hasn’t been broken into and robbed.

The Star

It’s an immensely tense and worrisome situation that brings out not only our own paranoia, but our worst beliefs in what humanity is capable of. However, it’s important to remember that there’s a lot of good people out there, and in the case of one homeless man from Glasgow, Scotland, that sense of good led to him guarding someone’s car in a rain storm for two hours…

9-Year-Old Chooses To Help The Homeless Instead Of Getting An Xbox For Christmas

Think back to when you were a kid: what was the one Christmas present you wanted the most? I’m not talking about “oh yeah it’d be cool if I got one of those” kind of want, I’m talking about “Christmas is RUINED if that fat jerk in the red suit doesn’t leave this for me under the tree!” kind of want.

Imgur

Maybe it was a doll that you’d been eyeing in the window of a store for months? Or maybe it was a set of sports equipment for your budding career as an All-Star? Whatever it was, chances are you wanted it more than anything in the world, and the moment it showed up under your tree made you happy on a level you’ve never been able to replicate in your adult life.

YouTube

However, if you could give that present up so that somebody else could get what they wanted on Christmas, would you? It’s a pretty tough question for even some adults to answer (and let’s get real, some people are going to say “of course I would” but would never actually do it), and even harder to present to a kid.

However, 9-year-old Mikah Frye of Ashland, Ohio put almost all of us to shame when he decided to give up his Christmas wish of a brand new Xbox One so he could help out the homeless people of his town…

He Wanted To Help Abused Animals, So He Thought Way Outside The Box

The amount of horrific stories of animal abuse in everyday society can be absolutely disheartening. It feels like every day there’s another story of animals being abandoned by homes that are either unfit or unwilling to take care of them, or forced to live in the worst conditions, even sometimes being made to fight each other for the entertainment and profit of others.

YouTube

It’s enough to make you lose your faith in humanity, but thankfully there are plenty of other examples of people going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure these animals get a new chance at a better life. Between rescue organizations that specialize in re-homing animals who’ve had a hard life, people who take them in and foster them until they can find a forever home, and the dozens of charities that exist to help our little furry friends, there is some legitimate good to be found in the world as well.

Dogington Post

Of course, one of the absolute best has to be the story of Eugene Bostick, an 82-year-old man who has been spending his retirement taking abused animals on adventures, complete with a vehicle that’s like something out of a children’s book!

8-Year-Old’s Response To Finding A Wallet Stuffed With Cash Will Renew Your Faith In Humanity

You never know how a child is going to react when you aren’t watching them, but you hope that they will do the right thing. Luckily, Frankie Burns’ parents now know that their 8-year-old son has a very good heart.

Burns was getting ready for his Gaelic football tournament when he came across a wallet outside hidden in the grass. The young boy opened it up and discovered $1,700 in cash inside and without hesitating brought the wallet to his father.

The wallet was filled with hundred dollar bills, but when asked if the thought to keep the money crossed his mind, he said, “no, because I didn’t earn the money, the other guy did from working.”

Burns and his family decided to track down the owner, and it’s a good thing they did, because he was in desperate need of some good news…

No One RSPV’d To An Autistic Boy’s Birthday Party Invites, But His Town Stepped Up In A Major Way

Lisa Schramel was trying to plan a birthday party for her son Mathias, but it quickly turned into a heartbreaking event. Even though she was excited to celebrate his sixth birthday, none of the kids that were invited RSPV’d.

Schramel explained that “Back in the beginning of October I sent out invitations to his class. I gave the parents a couple months’ notice, it was an RSVP. It was going to be at the movie theater the day after Thor opened. Mathias was really looking forward to it. The goal was to get enough kids, it was a minimum of 10, and we were willing to pay for that, it was no big deal.”

Jacqueline Devine/Daily News

But after several days the still hadn’t heard back. “We waited to hear from people and weren’t hearing anything. We started looking at other options like a home party and I went on Facebook to vent a little. That’s all I wanted to do, but it went from venting to all these people wanting to make his big day special.”

She shared her frustration with her friends, trying to vent out her anger before breaking the news to her son.

Lisa Schramel / Facebook

But her post started to gain traction, and her community came together in a big way to make sure that Mathias wasn’t spending his birthday alone…

She Took Leftovers To The Park, And The Result Touched Her Soul

A homeless woman’s prayer to feed herself and her young daughters became a reality when a mother brings her leftover home-cooked meal to the park.

Last month, Kim Colvin from Birmingham, Alabama made roast beef for dinner. Colvin said that ever since her boys grew up and moved out, she’s lived alone, but is still used to preparing meals that can feed a family of 10.

So when she made roast beef with a side of vegetables and macaroni and cheese, she was left with so much food that she couldn’t eat on her own.

She was certain that she couldn’t throw away such a wholesome meal, so Colvin loaded 11 plates of food in her car and drove to a nearby park.

A Cop Was Called Because A Woman Needed Help, Then He Went Above The Call Of Duty

Cops often get a bad rap, a few bad apples completely eroding the public trust in the institution of policing and community safety, but it is the minority of officers. We should always pay attention to the miscarriage of justice, but we should also pay close attention to those officers who go above and beyond the call of duty to help those in need.

Officer Danny Antillon, of the Glendora Police Department, in California, received a call about someone in need of assistance. When he arrived, he found a woman sitting on a bench with her walking cane, not wearing any shoes.

She explained that someone had stolen her shoes and her feet were in terrible pain. Officer Antillon immediately decided to act.

What Officer Antillon did next will leave you speechless.
