The Weird Eating Habits That Helped Jimmy Kimmel Drop 25 Pounds

Lately, it seems like Jimmy Kimmel is everywhere.

When he’s not hosting the Oscars, he’s making us all tear up with updates about his son Billy’s heart condition.

And in between, he manages to find time to be an accidental viral video star, or to shoot the breeze with Ellen DeGeneres.

But with Kimmel constantly on our TVs and computer screens these days, it’s easy to forget just how different he used to look.

By his own account, Kimmel grew up as a binge eater, with a love for greasy food like pizza and chicken wings.

He blames his love for food on growing up with an Italian mother, and on living in Las Vegas – where the streets are lined with all-you-can-eat buffets.

But Kimmel says he never watched his waistline, or even owned a scale until he bought one on a whim in 2010.

When he stepped on, he was stunned to see he weighed 208 pounds.

Around the same time, TV host Dr. Oz teased Kimmel for his size during an appearance on his show.

The next day, Oz called Kimmel back to tell him he was serious.

“I’m worried about you. You’re a young man. You have to take care of yourself,” the doctor told him.

“You know what?” Kimmel told Men’s Journal about the intervention, “Dr. Oz shouldn’t care more about my health more than I do.”

Kimmel’s first attempt to lose weight was dangerous and severe, but the TV host explains that “there’s no dipping my toe in the water” for him.

“I’m all the way in,” he explained.

That meant limiting himself to “two protein shakes and a very small dinner every day” for two months.

Afterwards, Kimmel “eased up,” moving to a strict 2,000-calorie-per-day limit.

The crash diet helped Kimmel shed weight quickly, but these days he has a more relaxed – but still bizarre – diet plan.

Jimmy Kimmel Admits He And His Wife ‘Didn’t Want To Get Too Close’ To Their Son

Following the birth of their son, Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, decided they “didn’t want to get too close” to him after he was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition.

During the firs two months of his life, the couple’s second child, Billy, underwent emergency open-heart surgery when he was only three days old, which was followed by a second operation last December.

During the opening monologue of his talk show, he tearfully said that his son’s “pulmonary valve was completely blocked and he has a hole in the wall between the left and right sides of his heart” when he was born.

Last month, Kimmel, 50, made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show, where he discussed the complications of caring for a sick child. It was there Ellen DeGeneres surprised her friend by getting a hospital room – where Billy was cared for – named after him.

“You’re such a great guy, and that was so emotional to see you go through that,” DeGeneres said. “We called our friends at Children’s Hospital LA, including Billy’s surgeon. We have named one of the rooms of the Heart Institute floor in honor of Billy.”

In an interview for O Magazine, the father-of-four candidly spoke about his 11-month-old son’s illness and the brief detachment he and his wife experienced with Billy. Unbeknownst to the couple, they had both been feeling the same heart-wrenching emotions.

Ellen DeGeneres Surprises Jimmy Kimmel With Most Thoughtful Gift To His Son

Without question, Ellen DeGeneres has always been my favorite daytime talk show host.

Along with being a hilarious comedian that brings humor to every one of her segments, she also has a heart of gold. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she’s constantly seen giving away thousands of dollars to her deserving fans.

But her good deeds don’t just stop with us common folk, as she also gives meaningful gifts to her close friends, with the most recent one being none other than Jimmy Kimmel.

While we often assume celebrities don’t need gifts since they have the funds to buy whatever they want, some presents are so meaningful, the number on the price tag doesn’t even matter.

As seen on his talk show, it doesn’t take a lot to make Kimmel cry, but during his interview with DeGeneres, he couldn’t help but wipe away a few tears when he discovered what she did for him.

Jimmy Kimmel Shaken Up After Wrong Turn Leads To A Head-On Collision

The late night talk show host is usually a pro at making segues on his show, however things took a turn for the worse when the TV personality made an error in judgement that nearly cost someone their life.

Jimmy Kimmel was set to host the Academy Awards this March, but now this could be in jeopardy as he finds himself seemingly at fault for a head-on collision on the famous Los Angeles highway.

Police officials and firefighters were on the scene to examine the damage and determine how the accident could have occurred.

Kimmel was driving in his BMW when witnesses say he attempted to make a left hand turn onto the Sunset Strip, however the exit was “right turn only” in this case.

While the host is usually very active on his Twitter account, he has made no mention of the accident that left his car in a mangled heap.

TMZ released footage of a frantic Kimmel making calls with the victim of the crash as police arrive on the scene.

Jimmy Kimmel Makes A Tearful Plea While Holding His 7-Month-Old Son

After Jimmy took a week-long hiatus from his late night talk show, he is back with his 7-month-old son, Billy with a very special message.

“I was out last week because this guy had heart surgery, but look, he’s fine, everybody,” the talk show host said while getting chocked up. “He may have pooped, but he’s fine.”

In April, Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, welcomed their son, William John “Billy.” At only three days old, Billy underwent his first heart surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Three hours after Billy was delivered, an attentive nurse noticed he had a heart murmur and was starting to turn purple. The newborn was having trouble breathing and they found that Billy was born with a form of heart disease.

“Basically, the pulmonary valve was completely blocked and he has a hole in the wall between the left and right sides of his heart,” Kimmel explained in a tearful monologue in May.

Six days after his first open-heart surgery, he was doing well and the family got to bring him home.

Despite the surgery being a success, Billy was supposed to have another operation when he was between three and six months old.

Originally Kimmel’s baby boy was supposed to go in for surgery in late October. Unfortunately due to a cold, the surgery had to be postponed.

Last week, Billy underwent a second successful heart surgery and was well enough for his dad to bring him on the show during his first night back.

As Kimmel got choked up during the show, the host joked that “daddy cries on TV, but Billy doesn’t.”

George Clooney And A Team Of Celebrities Made Jimmy Kimmel’s Dream Come True On His 50th Birthday

In honor of Jimmy Kimmel’s 50th birthday on Monday, November 13, a host of celebrities came to Kimmel Live to celebrate the talk show host.

It all started with Adam Sandler, who turned 50 last year, coming out and surprising the birthday boy with an opening monologue and chair.

His jokes about turning 50 are great! See the whole clip below.

As a surprise, George Clooney hosted a This Is Your Life-type retrospect of Kimmel’s life and career, taking some liberties to roast him along the way.

From drunken half-naked karaoke:

To his attempt at a radio career, where he was promptly fired:

Clooney had us laughing through the whole segment.

Take a look behind the beard, at 50 Fierce & Fabulous.

But that’s not all that was in store for the talk show host that night.

Celebrities like Ray Romano, Amy Schumer, Larry David and Halle Berry celebrated Kimmel’s birthday by reading mean tweets about him.

“Is Jimmy Kimmel crosseyed or just ridiculously ugly?” reads Howard Stern.

“@jimmykimmel is a comedy god. Like a deformed, lame, hideous god, such as ancient Greece’s Hephaestus,” reads Chris Hemsworth.

“@jimmykimmel you still look like a potato. Now you’re just a hairy potato. So you’re extra gross,” read Schumer.

Some of these are priceless:

But that wasn’t the best birthday surprise that he got that night.

Jimmy Kimmel Gave His Son’s Heart Surgeon An Unreal Gift

Children are truly every parent’s greatest gift. There is absolutely nothing that we wouldn’t give for our children. For Jimmy Kimmel, he was willing to part with his World Series tickets. With four games of the World Series between the Houston Astros and the L.A. Dodgers being played in Los Angeles, the late-night talk show host had tickets to see fall classic in person, but Kimmel decided someone else was more worthy to go in his place.

True Blue LA

Six months ago, Jimmy Kimmel publicly announced that his second child, Billy, was suffering from some serious health complications and would require heart surgery. Some of you may remember his heart felt monologue where he talked about what it must be like for parents going through this without health insurance, and how he is so thankful for the care his son had been receiving.

Kimmel took a week off for his son’s second heart surgery, but the surgery had to be postponed because the entire family was suffering from a cold. Kimmel also had tickets to see the Dodgers play in the World Series and he decided he wasn’t going to go.

10 Jimmy Kimmel Moments That Prove He’s The Funniest Man On Late Night TV

Jimmy Kimmel is a standout when it comes to late night television. His show is viewed nightly by a massive audience, and you never know what you are going to get when you turn on your television. Though he has shared his fair share of serious moments on his show, specifically through his monologues, we are going to focus on the times his show made us laugh until we cried.

Here are the 10 funniest moments from Jimmy Kimmel.

In honor of the Halloween that recently passed, let’s look at one of Kimmel’s long-standing gags that has taken on a form of its own. Every year he encourages parents to tell their kids that they ate their candy (as a joke of course), and to videotape their reactions. Needless to say, they are priceless.

Twitter is such a strange place. It has often become a place for faceless people to make comments on people that they just don’t seem to like all that much. Kimmel started having celebrities from all industries read mean Tweets that “fans” had written about them. It is absolutely spectacular.

Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres are considered two of the nicer people in Hollywood, but Jimmy should have known better than to try and “out-nice” her. She put him back in his place right quick.

Do you have that one friend that you find yourself in a prank war with? If you do you can understand what these two put each other through. The only difference is, these two have the resources to take it to a whole other level.

Who hasn’t been dying for this reunion to really happen. The 90s icons have yet to put anything realistic together. That being said, Jimmy decided to help out the masses by putting on his own version. They went big time on this little skit.

It has long been established that Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon have a “feud” that has been going on for quite some time. You never really know when it is going to pop up, but when it does it is always entertaining.

This video went viral, but afterwards it was announced that the video had actually been a prank. The video was posted to YouTube, and they “let the magic happen.”

Kids are known to say some of the most truthful things under the right circumstances. Jimmy sometimes sends out his crew to ask random kids wandering around the streets of LA some hilarious questions, and the answers are even better.

Kimmel is well known for pranking other people, but what happens when the tables are turned on him. Rihanna, with the help of Jimmy’s wife, made sure that he got his just deserts with this one.

Jimmy sent a reporter out to Coachella in 2013 to ask fans about some of the “bands” that were playing there during the festival. But in this case, the bands were completely made up, yet people still managed to have opinions on this fictional musical acts.

Jimmy Kimmel and Channing Tatum Play A Candy Prank On Their Daughters

Every year after Halloween, Jimmy Kimmel asks parents to trick their kids by telling them they ate all their candy. It usually ends with hilarious results (for the parents at least), as you get to watch the kids process that all their trick-or-treating loot is gone.

Of course, it never actually is. The whole bit is in good fun and will undoubtedly be used as blackmail when the kids get older.

However, this year things are a little different. Because of his son’s medical needs, Jimmy Kimmel has taken a leave of absence from his show. He’s enlisted a group of celebrities to take over his hosting duties while he’s gone, such as Shaq, Dave Grohl, Channing Tatum, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Last night, it was Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum who was on-call to host, and he decided to dance his way onto the stage.

Tatum also had the honors of announcing this year’s “I Ate My Kid’s Halloween Candy” prank. But to kick things off, Tatum and Kimmel decided to get in on the action themselves.
