Kate Middleton Faces Serious Backlash For The Way She Dressed At The BAFTA Awards

This weekend, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, hit the red carpet at the 71st British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards.

His Royal Highness has been the president of the Academy since 2010, so it was not unusual for him and his wife to attend the show, which is the British equivalent of the Oscars.

To one’s surprise, in the weeks leading up to the big night, royal watchers began speculating about what Kate, who is seven months pregnant, would wear.

On Sunday, the Duchess showed up in a floor length dark green gown with a black sash right above her bump. Kate paired the Jenny Packham dress with emerald and diamond jewelry, suede Prada heels and a black clutch.

While Kate, as usual, looked beautiful and elegant beside William, who donned a black suit and a bow tie, not everyone was on board with her choice of dress.

Why? She did not wear black.

Anthony Harvey/BAFTA/People

Just like at the Golden Globes in January, celebrities were encouraged to wear black at the BAFTA Awards in support of Time’s Up, a movement and “legal defense fund” that “will provide subsidized legal support to women and men who have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace and while in pursuit of their careers.”

The world’s most famous faces have been wearing black outfits to major events to get the point of the initiative across and start conversations around gender inequality, pay disparity, as well as sexual harassment and abuse.

As you can imagine, many people were disappointed to see that the Duchess did not honor the dress code.

“Disappointed in #KateMiddleton #DuchessofCambridge not wearing black to the #EEBAFTAs It’s not a political thing. It’s a woman thing!” wrote one Twitter user.

Another tweeted: “Can someone please sit me down and explain why Kate Middleton couldn’t wear black for a few hours for an important cause?”

Well, there is actually a very good explanation for why Kate opted for green instead of black, and it’s something she really has no control over.

Her royal hairstylist has finally revealed what we’ve all dying to know about the mother of two: What products does she use on her hair?!

As part of the latest royal tour to Norway and Sweden, Kate will be needing all the help she can get to perfectly style her hair for the cold Norwegian winter.

Kate Middleton Pays Subtle Tribute To Princess Diana During Royal Tour

Diana may have passed away over twenty years ago, but her sons, Princes William and Harry, and their significant others have been trying their best to keep her memory alive.

Hello Magazine

The brothers have both candidly spoken about how much they miss having their mother, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, around. It’s especially hard when they’re celebrating major milestones, like getting engagements, weddings, and starting a family.

Prince Harry opened up Diana’s absence on a number of occasions, and more recently, he talked about it during his first televised interview with his new fiance Meghan Markle.

“It is days like – days like today when – when I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news. But you know with the ring and with everything else that’s going on I’m sure she’s with us…yeah.”

Evening Standard

Harry made sure that Diana was part of he and Meghan’s “crazy journey” by including diamonds from his mother’s jewelry collection in the engagement ring.

“I think everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness is – and the inclusion of that and obviously not being able to meet his mom it’s so important to me to – to know that she’s a part of this with us,” Meghan said.

William also previously revealed how much it hurts him to not have his mother beside him while his children are growing up.

“I would like to have had her advice,” Prince William, who was only 15 when he lost his mother, told GQ. “I would love her to have met Catherine and to have seen the children grow up. It makes me sad that she won’t, that they will never know her.”

When the royal couple got engaged back in 2010, William proposed with his mother’s 18-carat sapphire ring. Kate has since continued the tradition of honoring Diana every chance she gets.

More recently, she paid a subtle but sweet tribute to her late mother-in-law during her and William’s royal tour of Sweden.

Kate Middleton Secretly Donates 7 Inches Of Hair To Children’s Charity

It’s hard to keep a secret when you’re a member of the royal family, but somehow Kate Middleton managed to do just that.

Despite being in her third trimester, the Duchess of Cambridge has been making several public appearances with a genuine smile plastered on her face.

This Tuesday, Middleton and her husband, Prince William, visited an outdoor ice-skating rink in the center of Stockholm, Sweden to play a game of bandy hockey and meet the local schoolchildren.

But that wasn’t the first time she’s met kids this year. On January 22, Middleton went to an elementary school in London to talk about the importance of taking care of your mental health.

“I see time and time again that there is so much to be gained from talking of mental health and taking the mental health of our children as seriously as we do their physical health,” Middleton said. “When we intervene early in life, we help avoid problems that are much more challenging to address in adulthood.”

While the royal makes time in her busy schedule to bring awareness to causes close to her heart, she doesn’t always put her good deeds on display.

Kate Middleton’s Maternity Wardrobe Has Changed With Baby Number Three

Throughout all of her pregnancies the Duchess of Cambridge has stayed true to her chic sense of style and has sported belted coats and empire-waist dresses that flatter her growing baby bump.

While she battled severe morning sickness with all three of her pregnancies, the Duchess didn’t miss a beat while stepping out into the spotlight sporting a wardrobe that any pregnant woman would be jealous of.

Kate Middleton Opens Up About Mental Health

Despite being six months pregnant with her third child, Kate Middleton is making time to spread awareness to a cause close to her heart.

The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her growing baby bump when she arrived at Roe Green Junior School in London on January 22. She was greeted by more than 100 students and teachers before taking part in a lesson designed to help support the mental health of their students.

According to the Daily Mirror, Middleton has helped launch a website dedicated to giving teachers practical resources to help support their students’s mental health.

The website, called Mentally Healthy Schools, is funded by The Royal Foundation, and is expected to become available to elementary schools across England in the spring. While the website still needs to be monitored and reviewed, it has so far been trialed at 50 schools to great success.

Shockingly, more than half of mental health problems begin before an individual turns 14 years old.

This isn’t the first time Middleton has advocated to break the stigma surrounding mental health. With the help of husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry, Middleton created the Heads Together Campaign in partnership with eight leading mental health charities. The campaign aims to raise awareness and provide resources for those suffering from mental health problems.

While at the school, Middleton delivered a speech, inspiring both staff and students to shed the stigma surrounding mental health.

Kate Middleton Plans At Home Birth For Third Child

With the upcoming arrival of the next royal baby, Kate Middleton has announced she plans on delivering her third child at home.

The Duchess of Cambridge has opted to deliver her baby at either Kensington Palace or the Sandringham Estate to avoid the “chaos” the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, created.

According to Express, a source claims Middleton has discussed her decision with Prince William, who is supportive of her choice.

“Above all they have agreed that having a home birth would save a massive intrusion into the day-to-day running of any hospital where she gave birth,” the source said.

“They were very concerned about the chaos caused with the first two children as hundreds of press and public camped outside for several days, and they would like to avoid a repeat if they could,” the source continued.

The source added the Duke and Duchess didn’t think it was fair on other patients and relatives at the hospital, who would also have to deal with the fanfare.

With Middleton’s due date quickly approaching, royal watchers have been trying to figure out what the pair will name their newborn.

Kate Reveals Princess Charlotte’s Favorite Food, And It’s One That Your Own Kids Loved As Well

It must be hard to grow up in the spotlight, but the Duchess of Cambridge does an amazing job at helping her children handle the pressures. She does her best to keep their lives relatively private, but every once and a while we get little sneak peaks into the lives of the cute little royals.

Kate recently gave a little bit of insight into their home life while visiting the Great Ormond Street Hospital. She was there to officially open the Mittal Children’s Medical Center, which houses a new play room for the children to enjoy while they go through medical procedures.

The pregnant duchess wore a long red coat that mostly concealed her growing baby bump, and she addressed the crowd before meeting the children. “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for having me here today. It’s been my first trip to Great Ormond Street Hospital and I’ve been so impressed with everything I’ve seen and the scale of the work that’s going on here. It’s been wonderful to meet so many families and young people, and I’ve been so inspired by their bravery and courage at such a difficult time.”

Kate then moved on to share some details about her kids that weren’t previously known…

Pregnant Kate Middleton Wasn’t Wearing Her Engagement Ring, Here’s Why

Kate Middleton was noticeably without her engagement ring when she visited the Great Ormond Street children’s hospital.

The large sapphire ring previously belonged to Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, so it holds a deep sentimental meaning for the couple. When William gave it to Kate in 2010, he said it was his way of making sure that his mother didn’t miss out on his wedding day.

The 12-carat oval blue sapphire is surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds in an 18K white gold setting.

When Lady Diana and Prince Charles divorced, Diana returned the ring to her ex-husband and it was stored in Kensington Palace. After her death, Charles invited his two sons to choose mementos from her possessions. Prince Harry chose the sapphire ring, while William chose a gold Cartier watch. After William decided to propose to Kate, the brothers exchanged mementos, because Harry thought fondly of Kate and both princes wanted her to have their mother’s ring.

So why was she without it?

Kate Middleton Showed Her Mom Skills With Some Quick Thinking

Whether you’re taking your kid to school or out doing some shopping, any mom can recognize the signs of a child in need. So even during a royal visit, Kate Middleton takes time out of her day to make sure a little one is okay.

Expecting her third baby in April, the Duchess of Cambridge came across a young boy who looked sick when she and Prince William were visiting Coventry.

That’s when she immediately sprung into action.

Kate Middleton Shows Off Growing Baby Bump And Explains Why She’s No Longer ‘Sporty’

While news of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s upcoming nuptials have received mass media attention, the news of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s unborn third child has been pushed to the sidelines.

However, the Duchess of Cambridge’s lack of publicity hasn’t affected the pregnant royal from attending public engagements.

On Jan. 17, Middleton went to visit students who took part in the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative (WJTI) at a primary school as part of her role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC).

According to E! as a huge tennis fan, Middleton shared that while she loves the sport, motherhood has prevented her to participate in the game as often as she’d like.

“I love tennis, I think it’s a great sport, I was really sporty when I was little, less so now that I’ve got lots of babies,” Middleton said as she reportedly patted her baby bump.

Afterwards Middleton had a meet and greet with the students plenty of hugs.

While it was great to see her sweet interactions with the young pupils, one of the main focuses of the appearance was her growing baby bump.

Meghan Markle Can’t Wear A Tiara, But Kate Middleton Can, Here’s Why

The royal wedding between newly engaged couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is only months away, but we won’t be seeing this soon-to-be bride flashing anything that hints at her becoming royalty.

On the other hand, Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton, has stepped out wearing royal jewelry on several occasions, including the time she wore Princess Diana’s favorite tiara as a touching tribute.

There are many differences between Meghan and the Duchess of Cambridge.

It was only last week that Meghan made headlines for appearing in public with a “messy” hairstyle. She was walking in the streets of London with her fiance in a messy-style bun.

That’s something you’ll never see Kate do. Meghan’s soon-to-be sister-in-law usually wears her hair in a classic chignon when she puts it up.

Whether she’ll break royal tradition once again is up for debate, but it’s unlikely that she’ll get past this one.

Here’s why you won’t be seeing Meghan posing for photos with a tiara on anytime soon.

Meghan Markle Shows Up With A New Hairstyle That Breaks Royal Protocol

When you’re a member of the royal family, there’s a strict guideline on how you’re supposed to present yourself.

From how you accessorize your outfit to which brand names you wear, everyone has all eyes on the royals when it comes to their fashion choices.

The royals have many fashion protocols to follow, including not wearing colorful nail polish, showing cleavage and wearing wedge shoes in front of the Queen.

But occasionally they make slip ups.

Not even the the Queen herself is flawless when it comes to attire. In December, she accidentally matched her guests, Nigerian High Commissioner George Oguntade and his wife Modupe Adewemimo, when they arrived for a meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The trio all wore a similar vibrant purple attire, which is a color that has been long associated with royalty.

And the color coordination didn’t go unnoticed.

“Same colours… is that an Oooops?” one person comment on Instagram.

“I love the color coordination. Beautiful,” another commented.

Princess Diana, Harry’s late mother, was known for breaking royal protocol and disregarding the rule to wear gloves in public. She felt like the accessory made interactions less personal and opted not to wear the garment.

“She liked to hold hands when visiting people or shake hands and have direct contact,” Eleri Lynn, the curator of a fashion exhibition on Princess Diana, told Hello magazine. “She also stopped wearing hats because she said, ‘You can’t cuddle a child in a hat.'”

The newest addition from the royal family could be taking queues from Diana.

While she isn’t becoming a part of the royal family until later this year, Meghan Markle isn’t letting the rules slow down her style.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Future Queen of England

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, also known as Kate Middleton became the subject of fascination to people around the world when she started dating Prince William, second in line to the throne, in the early 2000s.

Eager to learn more about the potential future queen of England, people became elated when the couple married in 2011.

Now with two children, 4-year-old George and 2-year-old Charlotte, and another baby due in April, everyone can’t help but want to get to know how this woman was welcomed into the center of the royal family.

Coming from humble beginnings, Kate and Will’s love story is one that gives us all hope of someday meeting a prince of our own.

Between the ages of 2 and 4, she and her sister Pippa, along with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton lived in Amman, Jordan. Her father was a manager at British Airways, while her mother, who was formally a flight attendant, was on an extended maternity leave.

Before Kate started school at St. Andrews, where she met Will Wales, she studied Renaissance culture in Florence and took a charity trip to Chile.

Like many girls of the 90s, Kate reportedly had a massive crush on Prince William. It was reported that she even had a picture of him hanging on the wall of her bedroom when she lived in Bucklebury, England.

“We would sit around talking about all the boys at school we fancied, but Catherine would always say: ‘I don’t like any of them. They’re all a bit rough.’ Then she would joke: ‘There’s no one quite like Prince William,’” a friend Jessica Hay said in William & Catherine: Their Story.

It wasn’t until Kate and Will shared a house with friends in their second year at St. Andrews that they met, and the rest of history.

Technically speaking, Kate snagged herself a younger man. Kate’s birthday is January 9, 1982, while Prince William was born on June 21, 1982. While the six month different has likely no baring on their relationship, her status of an older bride was notable when she married into the royal family.

While she may be seen as one of the most fashionable women in the world now, it took a lot for her to catch the eye of the young prince. Although the pair were friends at St. Andrews, a source said that the prince saw her in a new light after watching her strut her stuff in a 2001 fashion show. The soon-to-be duchess was sporting a bikini with a sheer cover-up during her modeling session.

Before becoming a professional princess, Kate held a civilian job after graduating from university in 2005. She became an assistant buyer at London retailer, Jigsaw. She was even known to fetch coffees during photo shoots, before leaving the position in 2007.

Mother Who Took Royal Photo At Sandringham House Says It Has Changed Her Life

A single mother who took the Christmas snapshot of the royal “fab four” said taking the photograph has changed her life.

Karen Anvil, from Watlington, Norfolk went to Sandringham House on Christmas day with her daughter Rachel to get a glimpse of the royal family as they greeted the awaiting crowd.

By chance, Anvil was able to take a picture of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, all adorning flashing smiles.

The photograph, which was taken on an iPhone SE, has been sought out by 50 publications around the world for rights to use the image, including the U.S., Canada, Spain, Italy, and Japan, BBC reports.

Anvil said she originally planned to distribute the picture for free, until she realized its worth.

“My phone will ring at work and I have to say to my colleagues, ‘oh it’s just my agent,’” Anvil said. “Obviously they think it’s hilarious, but I feel so silly.”

“There’s a picture of me and Rachel in Hello [magazine] too – that’s the one I was happiest about. It couldn’t get any better than that,” she added.

According to TMZ, the picture has raked in about $6,700, with the final number still to be calculated.

Kensington Palace’s “Highlights Of 2017” Left Out One Important Royal Family Moment

I think everyone is in agreement that 2017 was a trying year, no matter who you were. But it is when things are at their darkest that we have to keep the light closest to our hearts.

It seems that the British monarchy shares this belief, releasing a highlight reel showcasing the happiest moments of the royal family from last year. However, despite their sincere intentions with this touching tribute, many have criticized them for leaving out one of the most important headlines from 2017.

Included in the video were photos from Prince George’s first day of school, the first posey given to Princess Charlotte in Germany, and of course, the engagement announcement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in November.

Strangely enough, the video focused exclusively on the Princes William and Harry and their family, including their tribute to the anniversary of their late mother, Princess Diana.

Perhaps even stranger, the video left out the wonderful news that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a third child. See for yourself.

Expert Reveals What Prince William And Kate’s Body Language Says About Their Relationship

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married for nearly seven years, and are about to welcome their third child. But, for some reason, when she touched her husband’s knee (a rare behavior from the Duchess) during a recent interview with the BBC this week, it made headlines.

Bravo New Zealand

People began to make the assumption that perhaps Will and Kate were inspired by Harry and Meghan’s relationship. Body language experts also weighed in on the couple’s behavior towards each other, not just in the interview, but during their previous public appearances as well.

“They may be more reserved [than other couples] in their public displays of affection, but that doesn’t meant they love each other any less or aren’t excited about each other,” North Carolina-based body language expert Blanca Cobb told Cosmopolitan.

Look.co.uk

Turns out, Kate tapping Will’s knee isn’t even about affection, according to Cobb. She interprets the gesture as Kate’s way of saying, “Hey, we can both relate.”

“Through touch you connect with your partner,” Cobb explains. “You let them know that they’re important to you. Gentle touches, playful moments, and sincere smiles show that they enjoy each other’s company and have fun together.”

Cobb then analyzed a few more of the couple’s public encounters and explained what their mannerisms say about their relationship.

Kate Middleton Gave The Queen The Sweetest Homemade Christmas Gift

Unlike Suits actress and Prince Harry’s fiance Meghan Markle, Kate wasn’t invited to join in on the Christmas festivities back when she was engaged to Prince William.

So while Kate did not have to worry about giving the Queen a gift that year, she did eventually get married into the royal family, and wanted to do something special for the monarch one Christmas.

Closer Weekly

Last Christmas, the Duchess of Cambridge decided to do something extra special for her grandmother-in-law. Kate knew she had to think of out the box if she wanted to impress a “woman who has everything.”

“I thought back to what I would give my own grandparents,” Kate explained to Harper’s Bazaar UK. “I thought ‘I’ll make her something, which could have gone horribly wrong.'”

She went through with her plan anyway, and it turned out to be quite a  success.

So what did the Duchess gift the the Queen?

Kate Middleton Hands Out Gifts To Children And The Photos Are Adorable

Christmas is that time of year where we get to see the joy on children’s faces when they open the toy they have been hoping for all year long.

As a parent, you put a special effort into making sure this time of year is magical for your youngster.

Well, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has swapped her tiara for a Santa hat because she was in the giving mood at the Rugby Portobello Trust in London this week.

Dressed for the chilly weather, the pregnant royal participated in the organization’s Christmas party, handing out gifts to the children and their parents.

And the pictures are adorable!
