Farrah Abraham Has Been Replaced On “Teen Mom,” And She’s Got Something To Say About It

You’ve probably heard of Farrah Abraham, who appeared on 16 & Pregnant as well as Teen Mom. She got pregnant at 16 and was left as a single mom when the father of her baby was tragically killed in a car accident. Farrah gave birth to her daughter, Sophia, and that’s kind of where things started to get messy for her.

Farrah immediately garnered a reputation as a diva. She constantly screamed at her parents when they were trying to help her, and she seemed to think her personal life was more important than her parenting life. As years moved forward, Farrah tried to stay in the spotlight not just on Teen Mom, but all over Hollywood. She began undergoing plastic surgery and drastically changed her appearance.

MTV

Farrah also dipped her toes in the world of adult entertainment. She was paid $10,000 for her sex tape, called Back Door Teen Mom, although she claims it was $1,000,000. Her decision to do porn was a point of contention among other cast members, with fan-favorite Maci Bookout threatening to leave the show if Farrah was invited back.

After a few seasons of tension between the cast members, Farrah was finally fired from Teen Mom, and now she’s suing Viacom, who owns MTV, for “porn shaming” her.

“You choose to work in the adult industry, we can’t continue to film…” producer Morgan J. Freeman told Farrah on an episode of Teen Mom.

“Who are you to tell someone to chose one thing?” she fired back. “Shoot me for being who I am.”

Farrah took to social media about the network’s decision.

“Sad such a phenomenal show will no longer have its biggest talent on the show because of women hating, sex shaming, hate crimes, selfish, Weinstein company power trip behaviors against a professional hard working, honest mother,” Farrah said in her blast.

Now, a replacement for the outspoken reality star has been named, and of course, Farrah has something to say about it.

Mama June Reveals She May Be Going Blind During A Trip The Emergency Room

Last April, Mama June Shannon revealed her dramatic three-hundred-pound weight loss. The reality star unveiled her new svelte figure during the finale of her show Mama June: From Not to Hot, which chronicled her tough journey as she made major changes to her lifestyle.

Mama June had to undergo surgery three times to achieve the results that took her from a size 24 to size four. She had gastric sleeve surgery, skin removal surgery, a tummy tuck and breast lift.

“I’ve worked my ass off, working out getting healthy,” said Mama June. “And now I feel like becoming the person on the outside that I always felt like on the inside.”

Unfortunately, over the last couple of months, the state of her health has not improved as much as she thought it would when she shed the pounds.

WEtv

Right before Christmas, it was revealed that Mama June was facing “her biggest battle yet” during one of the episodes of her show, and that was just one of health many scares she experienced in 2017.

“I’ve been through hell and back the last few months. I’ve been through a lot within the last year. I don’t wanna give away too much, but it’s been crazy,” she told ET. “There have been some crazy ones, anywhere from being in a hospital a ton of times. It’s just crazy.”

“You never know if you’re going to get good or bad news,” said her daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson. “Sometimes it can get overwhelming.”

Alana was definitely not exaggerating. Once again, Mama June has been rushed to the emergency room, but this time, her condition could change her life forever.

Boy George Was Completely Blown Away By The Final ‘The Launch’ Winner, And You Will Be Too

As the debut season of The Launch draws to a close, it continues to prove that talent, persistence, and star power come in all shapes and sizes.

CTV

This week, Grammy award-winning artist and Culture Club frontman Boy George joined returning judges Scott Borchetta (executive producer, CEO of Big Machine Label Group) and Stephan Moccio (producer for Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion etc.) to find the perfect artist to launch the song “Giants.”

While it was a tough search, they found that artist in one of the most unlikely people imaginable: a 13-year-old singer from Toronto, ON.

CTV

Ethan Young (with perhaps one of the most appropriate last names in music history) began his pursuit of a musical career at a very young age, and a 13 he’s already attended schools for the arts and even performed as part of the Mini Pop Kids, who’ve played sold out shows across Ontario.

[embedded content]

Despite his age, Ethan wowed the judges with a performance of “Rise Up” by Andra Day, which he said inspired him to get past being bullied for his passions. His soulful, soaring voice made him a shoe-in as a finalist to record “Giants,” alongside fellow Torontonian Grace Bakker.

CTV

The two’s performance styles could not have been more different, with Ethan aiming for a large, emotional pop sound for the song, while Grace’s was much more stripped down and personal. Either one was a heavy contender for the winner, and both received some valuable advice about their individual styles and performances by fellow Canadian recording artist, Alessia Cara.

[embedded content]

Both had their individual struggles with the song as well, with Grace making sure to keep her individuality (even sometimes against the thoughts of the judges) while Ethan had a difficult time keeping his live performance subdued and focused instead of rushing through his movements.

CTV

Of course, only one could be chosen to launch the song, and after both turned in stellar live performances, it was Ethan who was chosen to have his rendition of “Giants” released immediately. The judges were in awe of his chops, with Boy George commenting that “What I noticed about you performing was that when people really reacted to you, you were even better.”

CTV

Ethan Young’s debut single, “Giants,” is now available for purchase everywhere. You can also follow him on Instagram and YouTube.

Julia Michaels Was One Of Several People Wowed By This Week’s “Unexpected And Exciting” Winner

If you’re someone who regularly watches singing competitions, you probably know better than anybody that doing something different isn’t always the key to success. Throughout tons of competitions where a country gets to vote on the winner, you often end up getting two people who are barely any different from each other going head-to-head in a battle of pure popularity.

Well, if there was a ever a week where The Launch proved that it has a refreshingly different take on singing competition shows, this was it.

CTV

This week the judges had to pick two people to perform the new song “Codes,” and the talent on display wasn’t just amazing, but also diverse. Executive producer and Big Machine Label Group CEO Scott Borchetta, writer producer Ian Kirkpatrick (Selena Gomez, Jason Derulo), and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Julia Michaels had a tough decision ahead of them. In the end, the win went to Toronto-born R&B singer Jayd Ink.

CTV

With a background in poetry and several years of performing already under her belt, Jayd isn’t just unique, but also assertive. She states from the get-go that she can’t get behind a song that she can’t put a personal stamp on, and even after being selected by the judges to be one of the two to move ahead and record her version of “Codes,” she insisted on doing a different rendition than had been already mixed. In short, she’s an artist.

CTV

That’s not to say that her smooth, funky R&B rendition of the song was without competition though (More from Jayd here). Jayd was up against Zack Lane, a talented pop singer who already has an active touring schedule, and has even gotten to perform alongside legends like Jann Arden and Alabama’s Jeff Cook. Zack’s more direct and poppy rendition of the song easily could have pulled him through to the end, as he definitely had his fans (especially Julia Michaels, who seemed to be crushing on him a bit).

CTV

In the end though, it was the more dramatic shift in songwriting and performance that won out, as Jayd brought down the house with an R&B and reggae style that seemed effortless. As Kirkpatrick commented to her, “the way you came in with ideas was really unexpected and exciting. You made it your own.” We’re inclined to agree. Check out more from him here!

Jayd Ink’s debut single, “Codes,” is available for purchase everywhere here. You can also follow her on Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.

Her Mother Filled A Missing Person’s Report But She Was Actually Just On The Bachelor

What was at first a nightmare for any mom, became a hilarious story that will probably be told at every Thanksgiving dinner from now on.

When Rebekah Martinez’s mother hadn’t heard from her since November 12, 2017, she filled a missing person’s report on November 18th.

Martinez had originally called her mom on November 12 to tell her she would be working on a Marijuana farm and would see her in seven days. After some time had passed, her mother became worried and filled a missing person’s report.

What Martinez forgot to mention was that she was actually appearing on the reality show, The Bachelor.

Fergie Says This Week’s Winner Is Better Than “Most Of The Artists Who Are In The Top 10 Today”

It’s been evident in the winners chosen by CTV’s The Launch over the last several weeks that pretty much any genre or style of singer is fair game when trying to pick the next artist to elevate, and its fourth week was no exception.

CTV

Featuring a panel of judges that includes executive producer and Big Machine Label Group founder Scott Borchetta, Miley Cyrus and Celine Dion producer Stephan Moccio, and Grammy Award-winning artist Fergie, week four seemed to be all about artists whose sound were at once both unique as well as throwbacks to previous decades. In the end there could be only one, and that one was London, ON-born singer POESY.

CTV

After taking an interest in singing when she was 9-years-old, Sarah Botelho has been making her way through the indie world as POESY, an antiquated English word for “poetry.” Her biggest inspiration is Freddie Mercury of Queen, whose music she discovered by seeing the musical We Will Rock You, but she also cites Katy Perry, Florence Welch, Kurt Cobain, and Stevie Nicks as her other influences, and it shows in her music.

Facebook / Poesy

The breathy-voiced singer blew the judges away with her intense rendition of Radiohead’s iconic song “Creep,” understandably so given how hard it is for someone to make that song their own. It put her through to the recording round alongside Ezra Jordan, a singing prodigy whose parents have worked with the likes of Olivia Newton-John and Rod Stewart, and the competition between the two was tight.

CTV

The judges felt that both contestants lacked a level of confidence when it came to performing in front of an audience, but ultimately made up for it with their voices. Ezra’s performance was a soulful, stripped-down rendition of the show’s original song “Soldier of Love,” but ultimately it was POESY who won the day with her version that evoked classic 70s rock, especially in her attitude.

CTV

“POESY can perform better than most of the artists who are in the Top 10 today” quipped Fergie, and when you listen to her rendition of “Soldier of Love,” it’s hard to disagree.

CTV

POESY’s first single, “Soldier of Love,” is available now for purchase everywhere. You can also follow her on her official website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.

Viewers Stunned By Paternity Drama Between Honey Boo Boo’s Parents

Love them or hate them, Honey Boo Boo and her extended family are definitely some of the most interesting people on TV.

We followed the reality star’s life as a beauty pageant contestant on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, and she’s returned to TV on Mama June: Not to Hot. The series explores Mama June’s life after her impressive weight loss, but the show also features some family drama.

Mama June and Sugar Bear in a legal meeting on the latest episode.WE tv

While Mama June, her ex-husband Sugar Bear, and his second wife Jennifer Lamb are all featured on the new show, they’re not exactly one big happy family.

In fact, viewers were stunned by the most recent episode, when Lamb dropped a bombshell on the family. During a legal meeting to plan Sugar Bear’s visitation schedule, his lawyer asked if Honey Boo Boo (whose real name is Alana Thompson) had ever taken a DNA test.

Lamb suggested it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the child star to take a paternity test.

“If it turns out that Alana is not his, June Shannon will be out of my life forever,” Lamb said on the show. “And I sure ain’t paying child support for a kid that’s not Mike’s.”

It sounds ridiculous at first, but Mama June’s own family added fuel to the fire later in the episode.

Estranged ‘Little People, Big World’ Family Member Has An Announcement

For 12 years, the Roloff family, stars of TLC’s Little People, Big World, invited us into their home each week so we could all get a glimpse of what life is like for a family dealing with dwarfism. Spoiler alert: they’re just like us!

Viewers soon grew attached to Matt and Amy Roloff, along with their children, twins Jeremy and Zach, Molly, and Jacob. From wedding and babies, to breakups, fans of the Oregon-based family have been around for numerous milestones, announcements, and of course, difficult moments, like Matt and Amy’s divorce.

The once inseparable couple announced they were parting ways in 2014, and despite Amy’s efforts to save the marriage, the divorce was made official in May 2016. However, shortly after their marriage ended, things started to look up for the family, who have always stuck by each other despite their differences.

In May 2017, Zach and his wife, Tori, welcomed a baby boy, Jackson Kyle. The new addition is Amy and Matt’s first grandchild.

A month later, Jeremy and his wife of three years, Audrey, shared that they were expecting a daughter in September.

Then in August, the family gathered together once more to celebrate 23-year-old Molly’s wedding.

“I can’t believe my only baby girl Molly is getting married,” Amy Roloff wrote on social media before the wedding. “I’m so truly very happy for her my heart over flows…I’m so blessed by Molly and so honored to have Joel a part of the family. It’s going to be a beautiful day on the farm.”

The 21-year-old made the announcement on social media, and the photos are adorable!

The Cast Of Celebrity Big Brother Will Leave You Saying “…Who?”

Big Brother has been on for 19 seasons, so it’s easy to understand how people can get tired of the same old format over and over. Especially with the new trend of bringing back old cast members, fans are starting to get restless. That being said, CBS doesn’t have a summer show with higher ratings than Big Brother.

Nicole Franzel won Big Brother after returning to the house for a second time. CBS

According to Les Moonves, CEO of CBS (and husband of Big Brother host Julie Chen), it’s the reason the network is alive.

Julie Chen told The Hollywood Reporter her husband said, “You and your show are single-handedly keeping this network afloat during the summer. You’re keeping this network running.'”

With 7.35 million viewers per week, CBS needs to do everything they can to keep their Big Brother audience happy. That’s why when Chen announced an edition of Celebrity Big Brother, which has never aired in the United States, fans got excited. The UK edition has boasted some pretty impressive names in the past, such as:

  • Pamela Anderson
  • Farrah Abraham, of Teen Mom
  • Perez Hilton
  • Gary Busey
  • Ivana Trump
  • Courtney Stodden
  • Dennis Rodman
  • Jermaine Jackson
  • La Toya Jackson
  • Coolio
  • Stephen Baldwin

However, the American edition is…well, let’s just say it’s a list of names you probably don’t recognize.

Kate Gosselin Opens Up About ‘Limited Time Left’ With Oldest Daughters As They Get Ready For College

We have all been following the Gosselin family for years now, since the birth of the sextuplets 13-years-ago. Kate and Jon Gosselin let us all into their home to see what it was like to raise not only the six babies, but also their twin daughters who were just a few years older.

The twins, Mady and Cara, are 17 years old now, and their mom Kate has spoken up about the fact that they are about to go off to college.

Kate recently posted a photo of her daughter Mady, mentioning that there is “limited time left at home.”

Back in October, Kate revealed that the girls would soon go off to college. She said, “Happy birthday to my girls! My heart hurts because you’re almost adults and will soon leave for college, yet it smiles because I am seeing who you’ve become: brilliant, beautiful, kind, caring, logical, responsible, empathetic, honest, amazing individuals!”

It’s hard to believe that after watching them grow up they will soon be heading off to school. The Gosselin household has been full of kids for a long time now and Kate is coming to terms with the fact that her kids are going to grow up and move on. She has been speaking out on what it will be like once all her kids are out of the house…

“Teen Mom” Preview Reveals Crushing News About Fan Favorites

Teen Mom is all about the drama, so much so that we can often forget that these are real people sharing their lives with the world. All of the no-longer-teens have allowed camera crews (and the entire country) into their homes to show the struggles of being a young parent.

Of course, some of the moms are harder to like. Farrah Abraham has always been controversial, cursing out her parents any chance she gets. Abraham has not stopped with her arrogant ways, and now she makes money as an adult entertainer. She also accused MTV of firing her because of her profession.

MTV

The other moms are a little more relatable. Amber Portwood had a rough start, but seems to have balanced out and become a better version of herself. Portwood ran into some trouble with the law, but after her release from prison she’s become a more patient and compassionate person. Portwood announced that she is expecting her second child with her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon.

MTV

Maci Bookout-McKinney is the one with the most common sense, as she left her baby daddy Ryan when it became clear that he was not ready for the responsibility. Maci raised her son, Bentley, as a single mom for a while until she met her husband, Taylor McKinney. The pair now shares two children, Maverick and Jayde, as well as having Bentley with them full-time. Just recently, Maci revealed that she and her husband experienced a miscarriage in 2017.

Instagram

But Catelynn and Tyler are the couple we all root for. At just 16 years old, they made the decision to put up their baby for adoption, knowing they couldn’t properly raise her at home. Since then, the couple has gotten married and had another child, Nova. Catelynn has battled with post-partum depression since the birth of Nova, and she went to seek treatment in November.

MTV

Now, however, we’re learning some crushing news about Catelynn and Tyler that is starting to shed light on some of their issues.

Where Is The Missing Gosselin Child? A History Of Gosselin Accusations

The Gosselins have been in the middle of their fair share of controversy over the years, all starting in 2007 when the show Jon and Kate Plus 8 aired. After a few one-off episodes about their large family, the Gosselins were given their own TV show which became a sensation.

TLC

The Gosselins welcomed sextuplets through IVF after already have a set of twins just four years earlier. The show focused on how this young family was going to manage raising eight kids all under the age of four. As the seasons went on, we saw the kids grow and develop their own personalities, but we also watched as Jon and Kate’s marriage completely crumbled. Kate became more and more controlling as things progressed, while Jon was either completely passive or totally defiant. This couple that once shared so much love between each other had totally fallen apart.

TLC

In 2009, Jon and Kate split, leaving fans to wonder what would happen with the show. It was ultimately cancelled in November of 2009, but in 2010 it returned as Kate Plus 8 and things were a little different. Because of the drama surrounding the split, we saw a stressed out Kate trying to navigate her new life as a single mom to eight kids. She retained custody of the kids and got to keep the marital house, but it soon became clear that her over-controlling ways were going to take over.

Nikki Sixx On Choosing This Week’s ‘The Launch’ Winner: “It’s one of the hardest decisions I’ve made.”

CTV’s The Launch has already given us an eclectic mix of winners in its previous two episodes. Between Logan Staats, a tattooed singer-songwriter with a gravelly voice to match, and Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine, a pop duo with catchy hooks and a powerhouse voice, the show could never exactly be accused of being predictable.

CTV

So of course it comes as little surprise that this week’s winner was a 70s-style psychedelic rock band. I mean, why wouldn’t it be? Especially with an eclectic panel of judges that included executive producer and Big Machine Label CEO Scott Borchetta, Nashville producer and musician Dan Huff, and Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx.

CTV

The Static Shift cite Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers Band, and Howlin Wolf as influences, and it shows not just in their retro look, but in the authentic classic rock meets modern production sound. Started by friends Mitchell Brady (guitar/lead vocals), Keone Friesen (Bass/harmonica/background vocals), and Isaiah Stonehouse (drums/background vocals) after they met at a rock and roll camp as kids, the band is looking to be part of the rock revival that seems to be just on the horizon.

[embedded content]

After wowing the judges with a confident performance of Free’s “Mr. Big,” the trio went up against powerhouse blues singer and mother of five Amy Bishop, who came out strong with a soulful rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” that had the judges awestruck. Both got to record their versions of the song “Wide Awake” and perform them for a studio audience, both struggled with it in some way, and for once, the judges were actually split on their choice for the winner.

CTV

Huff was dead-set on Amy’s version of the song, citing her powerhouse voice and more commercial style as putting her ahead, while Sixx felt The Static Shift’s version was more confident and had more potential to inspire others. Ultimately the tiebreaker fell to Borchetta, who elected to put the band through and release their single.

The Static Shift

With the release of their rocking version of “Wide Awake,” we expect big things from The Static Shift in the future.

The Static Shift’s single, “Wide Awake,” is available to stream or download now! For more, feel free to follow the band on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

15 Years After He Deceived Us All, “Joe Millionaire” Is Looking Very Different

Do you ever sit and wonder what the world was like before we embraced reality television shows?

Nowadays, it’s hard to come across a network that doesn’t have at least one reality show. From competing for a singing contract, and watching a rich family’s drama to vying for a bachelor’s heart, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone.

If you were among those who jumped on the reality TV bandwagon early on, then you’ll remember that in the early 2000s, the stars of The Bachelor weren’t the only ones looking for love on camera.

Daily Mail

In 2003, Evan Marriott became one of the most popular men in America when he was cast on the Fox show Joe Millionaire. He tricked 20 women into believing that they were on the show to compete for the heart of the heir to a $50 million fortune.

Bustle

At the end of the series, the finalists and the viewers find out that Marriott is just your average joe, who worked as a construction worker prior to coming  on the show. During the show’s surprise ending, Marriott became half a million dollars richer when he and the winner, Zora Andrich, were given $1 million to split between them.

“I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that Zora wasn’t into my money,” Marriot told People at the time. “Zora was an innocent girl who was sweet and nice, and she was kind.”

People.com

Unfortunately, the couple went their separate ways shortly after.

Andrich went back home to New Jersey, while Marriott remained in Los Angeles, where he got a taste of the fast celebrity life. He appeared on televised interviews, magazines, and red carpets for sometime before suddenly dropping out of the spotlight.

So what has the Joe Millionaire star been up to since?

“What.Is.That?” Judge Can’t Believe His Ears When He Hears This Week’s Launch Winners

After The Launch‘s first episode introduced the world to its first new superstar, Logan Staats, the show had already set the bar pretty high for the caliber of talent that we expected its winners to deliver. Thankfully, this week’s winners, Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine, came out swinging, and showed that the unique musical challenge show is far from a one-hit wonder.

CTV

This week’s panel of judges included returning executive producer and CEO of Big Machine Label Group, Scott Borchetta, One Republic frontman and producer Ryan Tedder, and Jennifer Nettles, half of the country duo Sugarland. Each of them came looking for the next big thing, and in Elijah and Jamie, they found it.

CTV

The duo from the nation’s capital of Ottawa, ON met when a friend of Elijah’s recorded Jamie performing, and the up-and-coming songwriter and instrumentalist knew that he needed to get this woman’s powerful voice recorded immediately. They’ve been inseparable ever since, and the chemistry between them showed when they performed two songs for the judges: a cover of Major Lazer’s “Lean On,” and their own original piece, “8:48.”

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT5K5_XElFE&w=854&h=480]

The two were a shoe-in for the show’s recording and performance rounds, going up against Basil Phoenix, a singer-songwriter from Toronto whose soulful voice and commanding presence accompanied a tragic past she overcame through song. While the duo were seen as more of a wildcard by the judges, ultimately Elijah’s instrumentation and Jamie’s powerhouse of a voice put them over the top.

After they took the stage and performed their rendition of Tedder’s composition, “Ain’t Easy,” the duo were understandably nervous, as their take on the song was notably different than what the songwriter had originally intended. However, Tedder himself sung some of their highest praise, commenting that: “If I had just heard her sing and heard them play in their first single, I would immediately be like ‘What. Is. That?!’ I would invest in it.” We’re inclined to agree.

CTV

Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine’s first single, “Ain’t Easy,” is now available everywhere for purchase. You can also follow them on Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram.

Abby Lee Miller Reveals She’s Struggling Behind Bars

With months left to go in her prison sentence, Dance Moms coach Abby Lee Miller reveals she’s seriously struggling to cope behind bars.

The reality TV star plead guilty to concealing her assets during bankruptcy and not reporting an international monetary transaction last year. Authorities allege that the TV star hid as much as $775,000 of her money from appearing on Dance Moms, but Miller says her only mistake was “trusting other people with my money.”

Miller, photographed outside her court case.Inquisitr

In any case, the TV star was facing a year and a day behind bars in California’s Victorville prison last July, and revealed to The View‘s Jedediah Bila that she was “crying her eyes out” about the sentence.

Miller was stressing out about everything from losing access to her swimming pool, to being kept away from her wardrobe for a year. “I don’t know if they’re going to have a bra that fits me,” she said.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZiYiMa5mIA?feature=oembed]

Miller also worried that she wouldn’t be able to keep up with her strict vegan diet behind bars. With the help of a gastric sleeve surgery and her diet, the dance coach had shed more than 30 pounds before going to prison.

“I don’t think there’s a salad bar and I doubt there’s going to be a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables,” she complained.

But after six months in the slammer, life in prison turned out to be totally different from what Miller expected.

‘Fixer Upper’ Contestant Reveals What They Don’t Tell You About The Hit Show

We hate to break it to you, but your favorite reality show isn’t as “real” as you think it is.

Of course, we can’t stop watching reruns of HGTV’s hit show Fixer Upper, and we’re even keeping up to date on hosts Chip and Joanna’s pregnancy news. But we’ve also discussed the controversy and lawsuit that followed one of the renovations on their show.

HGTV

Now, we’re sharing the sad news that appearing on Fixer Upper as a homeowner isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be.

Former contestants are revealing what it’s like to have Chip and Joanna fix up your house, and it turns out you need to jump through a lot of hoops just to get on the show.

First, you need to be in the market for a home in or around Waco, Texas, because Chip and Joanna don’t travel for work. Next, you have to actually buy the home before they’ll even tape the show. So any home hunting segments you see on the network are all fake, sadly.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fbo986BZb8?feature=oembed]

But the most surprising fact revealed by former contestants is you have to cover the cost of your own renovations. Even though you’re on a TV show, you have to fork up at least $30,000 for Chip and Joanna to do any real fixing.

And some contestants say they end up paying much more than that.

5 Times “Pawn Stars” Basically Cheated Their Customers

While no one ever thought pawning artifacts and valuables was a honest business, you have to expect both sides to get a fair deal. Pawn Stars, a reality show based on the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas has been making deals on air for years.

Like any pawn brokers, Rick, the Old Man, Corey, and Chumlee have the task of haggling with sellers, trying to turn a profit on the items they buy.

The value of the items that are pawned depends on many factors including rarity, condition and how desperate the seller is for quick cash.

There have been times though that the Pawn Stars have made questionable deals that ended up being big potential losses for the sellers.

When Bob, a seller with a 450 year old book on alchemy walked into Gold & Silver Pawn, he knew he had something special.

“I don’t know what the book is worth, but if it did belong to Isaac Newton, it should be worth thousands,” Bob guesses, with no evidence to back his claims.

After a call to his rare book expert, Old Man finds out the book is worth $20,000. That’s when Bob amazingly accepts the low offer of $7,000 after Old Man says “You know if I give you seven for it, I won’t have money for dinner tonight.” Yeah, sure.

As it turns out the rest of Newton’s collection was either destroyed or archived, which makes this piece a rare addition to anyone’s collection.

Looper

Corey was looking to slash through negotiations on a 15th century Samurai sword that could potentially have brought the shop over $10,000.

The seller, David, claimed to be a lawyer that took the old piece of weaponry as collatorial for a client. The client never returned, so he was looking to sell the item to recoup his costs.

Before the haggling began, Corey admitted in the backroom that he’s “seen a few of these sell for thousands of dollars.” He then opened his offer at a meager $800.

The seller was unprepared for such offers, “When he offered me $800 I wanted to jump and do a dance, but I had to keep my cool, because the price was still going up.”

They ended up agreeing on $1,500 which was a modest price. An expert later determined that it was actually worth $5,000 to $6,000 in its current condition, but if it was restored for $3,000, it could sell for as much as $15,000.

“That’s a score, Big Hoss!” Chumlee says as he and Corey high five.

I bet David didn’t feel the same way after he watched the episode.
