You Know William And Harry – Meet The Rest Of The Queen’s Grandchildren And Great-Grandchildren

Does it feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day to keep up with your family? Imagine being the Queen of England and having to make time for eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

While Prince William and Prince Harry have hogged the spotlight lately, her other grandchildren deserve some recognition.

Let’s begin by getting to know the Queen’s grandchildren:

1. Peter Phillips

Phillips and his wife, Autumn.Daily Mail

Peter is the son of the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, and her husband, Captain Mark Phillips. While he’s the 13th person in line for the throne, Peter and his younger sister Zara have no royal titles.

Peter and his wife, Canadian Autumn Phillips, have a pair of daughters together.

2. Zara Tindall

Zara Tindall and her husband Mark Tindall.Rex

Zara is the second child of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, and the 16th in line for the throne. Like her mother, Zara was an Olympian in equestrian events.

She has a daughter, Mia, and is expecting another child with her husband, former pro rugby player Mike Tindall.

3. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge

Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton.Bravo New Zealand

Prince William is (of course) the oldest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. He’s currently second in line for the crown, behind his father.

As you probably know, William is married to Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and they have a pair of children together (with a third baby coming very soon).

4. Prince Harry

Prince William’s younger brother and the youngest child of Charles and Diana, Prince Harry has distinguished himself in his military service, just like his older brother. He’s the fifth in line for the throne.

Last year, his engagement to actress Meghan Markle made headlines, and we’re counting down the days to their royal wedding.

5. Princess Beatrice of York

Princess Beatrice.People

Beatrice is the oldest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, Prince Andrew (the Queen’s son) and Sarah Ferguson. She’s seventh in line for the throne, and studied at the University of London.

Famously, the princess left her mark on Ed Sheeran, after accidentally cutting the pop singer’s face with a sword during a “mock knighting.”

6. Princess Eugenie

Eugenie is the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and the eighth in line for the throne. She works as the associate director of a London art gallery.

The princess made headlines earlier this month when her engagement to Jack Brooksbank was announced. The couple are expected to tie the knot later this year.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Have Already Tasted An Unconventional Wedding Cake

Every wedding needs a wedding cake, even the royals. Of course, each couple has a different taste and vision of what they think the cake should look like. It could be as simple as a a three-tiered white cake, or as extravagant as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s cake, which was monstrous.

Hello Magazine

For royal wedding lovers, they remember there were actually two cakes. The traditional wedding cake was fruitcake, as is customary in the United Kingdom. The logic is that fruitcake lasts a long time while frozen, which means the top layer of the cake can be served at the christening of their first child.

“It’s a traditional cake but also quite delicate and modern,” cake maker Fiona Cairns said at the time. “All the tiers will have a different theme.”

But Prince William’s groom’s cake was a little different. His Royal Highness requested his favorite chocolate biscuit cake, with tea cookies, chocolate, and nuts.

PA/Daily Mail

Now, with another royal wedding quickly approaching, people are starting to wonder if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are going to stick with tradition or if they’re going to break royal protocol, as they’ve already done many times before.

It was widely reported that the couple wanted a banana cake, as they both love “anything with banana,” and also because it was the first image Markle posted after her relationship with the prince was confirmed.

The wedding isn’t until May, so they have some time to decide. But as the new couple begins their duties together as soon-to-be-newlyweds, they’re already sneaking in some cake tastings. It’s probably safe to say, though, that the one they tasted on Thursday won’t be making the cut.

Meghan Markle Shows Up With A New Hairstyle That Breaks Royal Protocol

When you’re a member of the royal family, there’s a strict guideline on how you’re supposed to present yourself.

From how you accessorize your outfit to which brand names you wear, everyone has all eyes on the royals when it comes to their fashion choices.

The royals have many fashion protocols to follow, including not wearing colorful nail polish, showing cleavage and wearing wedge shoes in front of the Queen.

But occasionally they make slip ups.

Not even the the Queen herself is flawless when it comes to attire. In December, she accidentally matched her guests, Nigerian High Commissioner George Oguntade and his wife Modupe Adewemimo, when they arrived for a meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The trio all wore a similar vibrant purple attire, which is a color that has been long associated with royalty.

And the color coordination didn’t go unnoticed.

“Same colours… is that an Oooops?” one person comment on Instagram.

“I love the color coordination. Beautiful,” another commented.

Princess Diana, Harry’s late mother, was known for breaking royal protocol and disregarding the rule to wear gloves in public. She felt like the accessory made interactions less personal and opted not to wear the garment.

“She liked to hold hands when visiting people or shake hands and have direct contact,” Eleri Lynn, the curator of a fashion exhibition on Princess Diana, told Hello magazine. “She also stopped wearing hats because she said, ‘You can’t cuddle a child in a hat.'”

The newest addition from the royal family could be taking queues from Diana.

While she isn’t becoming a part of the royal family until later this year, Meghan Markle isn’t letting the rules slow down her style.

Queen Elizabeth II Fires Royal Bra-Fitter Following Release Of Tell-All Memoir

Queen Elizabeth II has fired her official bra-fitter after she wrote an autobiography involving her professional relationship with the royal family.

After nearly 60 years of service, the Queen’s official lingerie supplier Rigby & Peller has been stripped of its royal warrant after (the company’s board member and former owner) June Kenton, 82, released a tell-all memoir of her career, dubbed Storm in a D-Cup.

A royal warrant of appointment is a mark of recognition to those who supply goods or services to members of the royal family, which only about 800 businesses have.

On Jan. 10, the Royal Warrant Holders Association confirmed to PEOPLE that Kenton’s longstanding relationship with the British monarch had ended last year, which was during the same time frame the book came out.

“I never thought when I was writing the book that it would upset anyone,” Kenton said. “I’ve had the royal warrant for so long, I never imagined that this would happen. It’s horrible and a real shock.”

But Kenton wasn’t the only one to speak out on the surprise dismissal.

Young Prince Philip Looks Exactly Like His Grandson In Newly Discovered Photograph

Royal photographer Chris Jackson may have finally solved where the ginger prince gets his looks from, and it’s not from where you may expect.

Many look at Prince Harry’s family and wonder where he gets his ginger hair from.

A recently unearthed magazine holds the answer to the question we have all been wondering.

Jackson shared an image of the 1957 edition of the magazine Paris Match on Instragram with a throwback picture of a bearded member of the royal family.

That’s when the stunning resemblance became apparent.

Princess Diana’s Astrologer Says Harry’s Romance With Meghan Was Written In The Stars

Whether or not you believe in fate, you have to admit there’s something magical about Prince Harry’s whirlwind romance with actress Meghan Markle.

The couple have been together for less than two years, but they already seem deeply in love, especially whenever they’re spotted out in public stuck together at the hip.

Celebrity astrologer Debbie Frank has her own explanation for the famous couple’s close bond: she says that Markle’s presence was already written into the prince’s future when he was just six years old.

We’ve already analysed the newest royal couple’s relationship based on their star signs, but the predictions weren’t so rosy.

Before the engagement was announced, astrologer Susan Miller warned that their conflicting signs – Harry is a Virgo, Markle is a Leo – could cause friction. Not only is the actress an American, but she’s also one of the only Fire signs in a family of mainly Earth and Water signs.

Miller warned the young couple “couldn’t be more different,”and said their “love affair is going to take some time to develop into a long-term success.”

But of course everything seems to be going well for the couple now, and Debbie Frank isn’t surprised. After meeting the late Princess Diana in 1989, the astrologer managed to chart the young prince’s future, and her predictions seem to be coming true.

We Finally Know What The Queen’s Net Worth Is, But She’s Giving A Lot Of It Away

Although the royal family likes to keep their personal business away from the public, there are a few details about their lives that cannot be kept hidden for long, including the Queen’s financial status.

Back in November, the Paradise Papers revealed that Queen Elizabeth II has paid around $13 million into funds in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. People were taken aback when the royal’s name popped up in the documents because this type of activity is common among the rich who try to avoid paying high taxes by putting money into offshore accounts.

Yahoo News UK

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the Queen’s investment are indeed legal and she wasn’t evading taxes.

“All of our investments are fully audited and legitimate,” said a spokesperson for the Duchy of Lancaster, which handles the Monarch’s finances.

Despite the clarification, people were still curious about how much the Queen is worth and if she actually pays taxes.

How Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Will Make Money After They’re Married

For most married couples, money is always a topic that needs to be discussed. What’s mine is yours, but what’s yours might not be enough to pay the mortgage. For Prince Harry and his soon-to-be wife, Meghan Markle, money probably won’t be an issue. But where does their money come from? Multi-million dollar weddings and $10,000 outfits aren’t free, yet you won’t find either of them working a 9 to 5 job.

Markle has been open about her financial struggles in the past, remembering how she was always short on cash while trying to make it as an actress, and still tries to be money-smart.

“I was not a girl who grew up buying $100 candles,” she told the Toronto Star. “I was the girl who ran out of gas on her way to an audition. Actually, the doors of my car were both stuck shut. I had to pretend I was rooting around the back seat for a script and then crawl surreptitiously into the front seat.”

But now that she’s poised to become a member of the royal family, how are she and her future husband going to support themselves?

Hello Magazine

Prince Harry served in the British Army Air Corps for ten years, including two tours in Afghanistan as a helicopter pilot. According to Fortune, his yearly salary was $45,000. Considering he’s most likely living rent-free at the palace, a lot of that salary is probably saved up.

USA Today

During her seven-year run on Suits, Markle reportedly banked about $50,000 per episode, making her take-home pay about $500,000 each year. She also earns royalties every time an old episode is replayed on any network, so she could be making money off her acting days for years to come. Markle also appeared in several movies, and probably has a hefty savings account.

In addition to her acting gigs, Markle also started her own clothing line through Reitmans, and has leftover income from her blog, The Tig, which she shut down earlier this year. Together, Town and Country reports that Markle made $80,000 off these endeavors.

The Sun

Yep, that’s right. British citizens will be contributing to the royal couple’s bank accounts, but that’s not new. Citizens fund the monarchy with a solid £292 million (about $391 million) per year. Each taxpayer only pays about 85 cents, though, and the Queen surrenders all profits from the Crown Estate to the government. In exchange, she’s given the Soverign Grant, which goes towards palace upkeep, travel expenses, and salaries. Harry and Meghan, while they live on palace grounds, won’t have to worry about anything.

But there’s still a couple more ways they’ll be making money.

Prince Harry Had To Drop A Nasty Habit Before Meghan Agreed To Marry Him

The once-famous party boy has turned over a new leaf now that he is engaged to American actress Meghan Markle.

We all remember the crazy parties Prince Harry would throw in Vegas and his late nights out at London pubs, but now his future wife-to-be has influenced the prince to drop one nasty habit from his life- smoking.

A few short years ago, the popular royal could be seen putting away a pack of cigarettes in just a day.

Now that he is engaged to Meghan, who lives an exceptionally healthy lifestyle, he has reportedly changed his ways.

“I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly — it was a confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned. This beautiful woman literally tripped and fell into my life. I fell into her life and the fact that she will be unbelievably good at the job part of it as well is obviously a huge relief to me because she’ll be able to deal with everything else that comes with it,” he said.

12 Vintage Photos Of The Royal Family Celebrating Christmas At Sandringham

Ever since Queen Elizabeth II was born, she spent every Christmas at Sandringham House in Norfolk, England. The Queen usually takes the train from King’s Cross station in London, and is later joined by her closest family members for a week of festivities.

The family has a number of new and old traditions they incorporate into their celebration, including an afternoon tea, a charity soccer match, a gag gift exchange, church services, and an evening of games, including charades.

So how much has the festivities changed over the years? Let’s take a look back at some vintage photographs of the royal family celebrating at Sandringham House.

At age 26, the Queen delivered her first Christmas speech over the radio at Sandringham.

Even today, the family attend two services on Christmas Day at the church of St. Mary Magdelene, a private one at 9 a.m, during which the Queen takes communion, and an 11 a.m public worship.

In 1981, after her highly publicized wedding to Prince Charles, Princess Diana joined the royal made the trip to Sandrigham for her first Christmas as a member of the royal family…

Body Language Experts Compare Harry And Meghan’s Relationship With Will and Kate’s

When we finally heard the good news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were officially engaged, the world waited with baited breath for their first interview together.

The couple’s 20-minute talk revealed new details about how they fell in love, how Harry popped the question, and the happy couple’s dreams for the future. But even if you were watching really closely, you probably missed a lot. That’s because couples say so much with very small gestures, and if you don’t know what to look for, you’re missing out.

These two just can’t take their eyes off each other.Slate

Thankfully, body language experts have combed through the footage, analyzing every little glance, blink and hand gesture, revealing exactly what’s on Harry and Meghan’s minds.

The first and most obvious comparison is that the younger prince is much more relaxed than his brother was in the same situation. Prince William and Kate Middleton sat down for their first interview as a couple in 2010, a year before their wedding.

Will and Kate seemed much less cozy during their first interview.BBC

Both the prince and his future fiance seemed very stiff, a sure sign of nervousness and anxiety, but the fact that they “mirror” each other’s body language reveals they’re deeply in love.

The camera also caught lots of warm, loving glances between the pair. Experts say that Kate’s use of hand gestures, especially when Will is telling a story, reveal that she’s the more serious, “adult” person in this relationship.

But when you compare this interview to Harry and Meghan’s, it’s like night and day.

10 Unusual Traditions The Royals Must Follow Every Christmas

When it comes to Christmas, the royals have very special traditions that they have been following for decades. While some of the ways in which they carry out these traditions have slightly changed over the years, they’re still quite interesting.

This year, Prince Harry is expected to break protocol and invite his fiancee Meghan Markle to join his family at Sandringham House, a privilege that Kate Middleton wasn’t given while engaged to William.

“Now they are engaged it was unthinkable that they would be apart for Christmas,” a source close to Prince Harry told the Sunday Times. “The royal family have fully welcomed Meghan into the fold.”

If Markle does make the trip to Norfolk to spend Christmas with the Queen, there will be lots for her to do.

Here are 10 royal family traditions the Queen and her family participate in:

Tour Norfolk

In the week leading up to Christmas, the Queen and her family travel by public transportation to their  “country house” in Norfolk, England. Sandringham House is smaller than the the other royal abodes, so only the Queen’s closest family members join her on the trip.

NY Daily News

In the recent years, Prince William and Prince started a tradition of playing a soccer game alongside estate workers to raise funds for charity. Sometimes the rivalry gets really heated up. In fact, there’s usually some trash talk involved, two years ago, William shouted to a referee, “Give him yellow, give him yellow — backchat!”

On Christmas Eve, the family convenes in the White Drawing Room and enjoy a special afternoon tea. Former royal chef Darren McGrady revealed that the menu usually includes scones and “jam penny,” which are sandwiches cut into circles the size of a penny.

The family also takes this opportunity to finish decorating the tree.

In case you weren’t aware, the royals have a great sense of humor. After tea everyone gathers around to exchange funny gag gifts. Apparently Prince Harry one gave the Queen a shower cap with the phrase “Ain’t life a b**tch” etched on it.

Royal Collection Trust

The royals are extremely busy on Christmas Eve, not only do have a packed afternoon filled with various activities, they also have to attend a black-tie dinner. Unlike the afternoon tea, dinner is more formal and involves “something festive, some game, like pheasant or venison, and roasted wintery vegetables, like parsnips,” according to former royal chef Darren McGrady. They also get to enjoy Dubonnet and gin cocktails, as well as cherry brandy and cider made on the estate.

According to sources close to the family, the Queen takes this opportunity to read some cheesy jokes from the Christmas crackers.

There’s even more for them to do on Christmas Day…

Ed Sheeran Receives A Rare Royal Honor

If you haven’t heard of Ed Sheeran, you’ve probably been living under a rock. The singer-songwriter has produced many hits over the past 13 years. Writing for artists like Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and Taylor Swift, Sheeran has proven time and again that he is not just a flash in the pan.

Live Arena

The singer-songwriter has won two Grammy awards, and has been nominated for a total of 12. He’s also the most popular artist on Spotify, and has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide.

Sheeran is also known for his incredibly giving attitude. He’s been known to surprise fans in the hospital when they need it the most, and has done more than just donate money to charities. Sheeran gets personally involved, donating his time to concerts, giving clothing to children’s charities, and giving winter clothing to homeless people who need it during the winter.

It’s not the first time he’s done something like this, either. Before his concert in Ottawa, Canada, a young girl was part of the press scrum (her dad was one of the reporters). She got to ask a question, and she asked what Sheeran’s favorite charity is. The singer mentioned the East Anglia Children’s Hospice where his mom works. The young girl pulled out a fistful of money from her purse and said, “Here’s 25 pounds from my birthday money to donate to that charity.”

Sheeran was so blown away by her generosity, he pulled out two hundred dollars Canadian for the girl to give to HER favorite charity.

Because of his efforts, both in music and charity, Sheeran was bestowed with an incredible honor from the royal family.

15 Royals Who Started Their Lives As Regular People

These 15 women from humble backgrounds found a literal prince charming and said, “I do.”

1. Silvia Sommerlath – Queen of Sweden

2. Kate Middleton – Duchess of Cambridge

The Maggie Blog

3. Maxima Zorreguieta – Queen of the Netherlands

This queen is an accomplished career woman in her own right, with a degree in economics and experience as the international sales VP at Deutsche Bank.

4. Grace Kelly – Princess of Monaco

Movie stars met monarchy when this silver screen icon married Prince Rainier III of Monaco. Their televised wedding took just 16 minutes, but attracted more than 30 million viewers worldwide.

5. Letizia Ortiz – Queen of Spain

ABC News

6. Jetsun Pema – Queen of Bhutan

Pema’s official title is the “Dragon Queen” of the tiny Asian monarchy, and she’s actually a distant cousin of her husband (deep breath here) King Jigme Khesar Namyel Wangchuck.

Royal Correspondant

Their relationship caused controversy, because Pema is 10 years younger than her husband, and they married when she was just 21.

7.  Sonja Haraldsen – Queen of Norway

Royal Correspondant

Crown Prince Harald had to keep his love for Haraldsen secret, because she was not a noble and their marriage was forbidden. He swore to his father that he would never marry unless he could be with her, and the king granted him special permission for the engagement.

8. Diana Spencer – Princess of Wales

Daily Express

Sorry, make that “14 Commoners Who Became Royalty By Marriage.” Despite being “The People’s Princess,” Diana came from a noble family, and became Lady Diana in 1975 when her father was made an Earl. She simply upgraded to Princess Diana when she married Prince Charles.

Royal Family’s Private Chef Dishes On The Meals They Can’t Pass Up, Reveals What To Expect At Harry’s Wedding

Feeding one of the world’s most important families must be a stressful job, especially because they’re all very picky eaters.

Darren McGrady was the Royal Family’s private chef between 1982 and 1993, and in that time he learned a lot about the royals just from their eating habits. And if “you are what you eat,” then it’s no wonder Her Royal Highness is so healthy at 91-years-old.

Cake and chocolate are the Queen’s few indulgences. The Express

Despite the huge banquets you’ll spot the Queen attending, when she dines alone she’s much stricter about her diet. McGrady reports that she mostly eats some grilled fish with vegetables, and rarely enjoys anything with carbs. “The Queen’s not really bothered about food,” McGrady says. “All she cares about are horses and dogs.”

Prince Philip goes in for healthy eating too, maybe because of his time in the Navy. And as for Prince Charles, McGrady reveals he was “organic before organic was even invented.”

But while their everyday diet is impressive, McGrady shares the Royal Family’s weakness: chocolate. “The Queen is a chocoholic,” he explains, “so anything we put on the menu the Queen would pass, if it had chocolate in it.”

McGrady says reports of the Queen’s “heavy drinking” are exaggerated. Travel and Leisure

That includes chocolate cake with her afternoon tea. But McGrady says despite what you’ve read, the Queen doesn’t do much day drinking. “She’d be pickled if she drank that much.”

Meanwhile, the young princes are just as picky about what they like to eat.

Meghan Markle Is Receiving A Christmas Perk That Kate Never Did

Christmas is a magical time of the year, and after you become engaged you’re ready to celebrate!

As they bask in the glow of their engagement news, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have started to make plans for the holidays. As their first Christmas as a newly engaged couple, and the only one before they become husband and wife, Meghan is getting ready to settle into the UK and spend some quality time with the royal family this Christmas.

It is believed that Prince Harry and his bride-to-be will secure an invite to the traditional festivities, following their engagement announcement last week. This includes joining the Queen and the rest of the royals at Sandringham this year.

The Sandringham traditions including daily visits to church and several changes of dress during the visit to the 20,000-acre Norfolk estate.

Daily Mail

Everything that happens during the three-day event is strictly timetabled, including meal time, when they walk the dogs and when they go to bed. Even lunch on Christmas Day is penciled in for just 50 minutes.

The entire event is deeply traditional and personalized for the royal family. It includes “cheap and cheerful” gifts given on Christmas Eve and a game of charades at which the Queen who is a superb mimic, always shines.

The men in the family wear suits, while the women wear smart silk dresses for lunch on Christmas Eve. In the evening, however, they change into black tie and glamorous gowns. It’s the one time the women also wear their most expensive jewelry, which almost always includes tiaras.

On Christmas morning, Prince Philip will lead the family on a 330-yard walk to the 16th Century church of St. Mary Magdalene, where they will spend 45 minutes attending a service. The Queen, however is driven, and receives Communion privately in the morning.

The Royals open Christmas crackers and everyone wears paper hats, except the Queen. They often play party games, as well as cards.

Meghan attending these collection of events however, would be a break from tradition.

“We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception,” the actress told Vanity Fair.

Prince Harry Says Diana “Knew Exactly What She Was Doing” When She Touched The Man With Aids

One of Princess Diana’s lasting legacies was her work fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic. She saw a group of people who were being ignored and knew she had to help.

On April 19, 1987, Princess Diana visted London Middlesex Hospital, where the first ever treatment center for HIV/AIDS was opened in the UK. Then, Diana did something no one ever expected. She shook the hand of a patient with AIDS, without wearing any gloves.

John Redman/AP

To us now, this isn’t necessarily a big deal. We all know that HIV/AIDS cannot be spread through a handshake. But in 1987, there was less information on how the disease spread. Because of this, more than 50% of people surveyed by the Los Angeles Times believed people with HIV/AIDS should be quarantined.

“If a royal was allowed to go in shake a patient’s hands, somebody at the bus stop or the supermarket could do the same,” a nurse who witnessed Diana’s hospital visit once told the BBC. “That really educated people.”

30 years after her historic handshake, Prince Harry spoke about his mother’s desire to help.

Diana’s Personal Butler Remembers The Princess That Only He Knew

Princess Diana’s sudden death in 1997 shocked everyone, and while her fans and admirers around the world grappled with the news, her death was even tougher on those who knew her best.

Recently, both Prince William and Harry have talked candidly about how the princess’s death affected them. It wasn’t easy losing a mother at such a young age, but of course they’ve both grown up to be happy and successful. They’ve shared their fond childhood memories of Diana, and her closest friends have also remembered her life.

Butler Paul Burrell worked for Princess Diana in her final years.Lady First

One of the people closest to Diana in the years just before her death was Paul Burrell, a longtime member of the Royal Family’s personal staff. While we only have Burrell’s memory of her exact words, he remembers the princess calling him her “rock,” and “the only man she ever trusted.”

But the princes have their own view of Burrell, saying he committed “cold and overt betrayal” of their mother’s trust after her death.

Before he met Diana, Burrell lived an interesting life; he was born to blue-collar workers, but decided to dedicate his life to working in Buckingham Palace after seeing the Changing of the Guard during a childhood trip to London.

Burrell managed to achieve his dream, starting as a footman at the palace at age 18. He gradually worked his way up to becoming the Queen’s personal footman, then spent time as Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s footman, before finally becoming the princess’s personal butler.
