Olympian Scott Hamilton Updates Fans About His Lifelong Cancer Battle

If you followed figure skating in the 1980s, you’ll remember that Scott Hamilton was one of the sport’s toughest competitors.

Not only did he win Olympic bronze and gold medals back to back in 1980 and 1984, Hamilton was also both the World Figure Skating Champion and the National Champion for four years in a row.

But longtime fans will know Hamilton has faced his toughest challenge off the ice. The Olympian has been plagued by cancer diagnoses multiple times, including multiple brain tumors.

“I have a unique hobby of collecting life-threatening illness,” Hamilton told People about his most recent case in 2016. “It’s six years later, and it decided that it wanted an encore.”

Hamilton’s health troubles actually began when he was just two years old. He mysteriously stopped growing and had trouble digesting food. Figure skating actually helped improve his condition, but to this day Hamilton is only 5’3″.

Then, in 1997, he received the tragic news that he had testicular cancer. Doctors told Hamilton he had actually been born with the disease, meaning he won his Olympic medals while living with cancer.

While Hamilton’s tumor was treated with chemotherapy and surgery, that was the beginning, not the end, of his health crisis.

Val Kilmer’s Friends Share Grim Update About His Cancer Prognosis

Last December, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Val Kilmer got very candid about his two-year battle with throat cancer.

Apparently, he had to undergo a procedure on his trachea, which turned his voice raspy and left him short of breath.

This admission was very difficult for Kilmer to make because the actor has always valued his privacy. In fact, it took him a whole year to finally come clean about his diagnosis, after rumors began to spread about his failing health.

Speculation about Kilmer’s illness began back in 2015 when he was photographed with a breathing aid. Despite the fact that his fellow actor Michael Douglas revealed in an interview that Kilmer was “dealing with” cancer, the Top Gun star wrote in a 2016 Facebook post that Douglas was “misinformed” and reassured fans that he was healthy.

“Some fans have mistakenly thought my silence about my personal issues meant that somehow I wasn’t being responsible to my health, because of my reliance on prayer and Love. Nothing could be further from the truth,” wrote Kilmer.

Turns out, he was just deflecting attention away from himself while he underwent treatment, including chemotherapy and surgery. The 58-year-old finally confirmed that he was diagnosed with the disease during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) in May 2017.

“He [Michael Douglas] was probably trying to help me cause press probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen altho [sic] healing all the time,” Kilmer explained.

Kilmer admitted to THR that the disease has “taken its toll” on his body, and the recovery process wasn’t easy. At the time of the interview, the Batman actor seemed to have been recovering well, however, a new update is indicating otherwise.

Loretta Lynn’s Health Takes A Turn For The Worse

Legendary country singer Loretta Lynn had a tough 2017 after she suffered a stroke that left her “kind of paralyzed” in May.

“American country music legend Loretta Lynn was admitted into a hospital in Nashville Thursday night after she suffered a stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee,” read the statement issued by her publicist.

Lynn, who was still touring at the time, was advised by doctors to postpone her shows so she could focus on her recovery. Her prognosis was good, and she was expected to make a full recovery, but she still spent three months in the hospital and at a rehabilitation center.

The boot

Upon her release, the singer, known for her string of hits like “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” and “One’s on the Way,” shared an update on her condition via Facebook.

“Thank you so much for all of your prayers, love, and support,” Lynn wrote. “I’m happy to say that I’m at home with my family and getting better by the day. My main focus now is making a full recovery so that I can get back to putting all of me into what I love, sharing my music with all of you. I’m just letting everybody know that Willie [Nelson] ain’t dead yet and neither am I, and I can’t wait to see all of you on the road!”

Lynn pushed her album, “Wouldn’t It Be Great,” release date to 2018 so she could be well enough to promote it, but unfortunately, the new year is off to a rough start for her.

Carrie Underwood Needed More Than 40 Stitches After November Fall

With her charismatic persona and upbeat attitude, it’s hard to hear Carrie Underwood discuss the aftermath of her traumatic fall.

Underwood fell down the steps outside her home in November of last year, which left the country singer with a broken wrist, and severe cuts all over her face.

She released the extent of her injuries on her blog on Sunday, revealing she needed between 40 to 50 stitches.

“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” Underwood wrote. “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.”

“In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood’s husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in,” she added.

While the accident caused her to also pull out of the Country Rising benefit show two days later, that was not the extent of her suffering.

Val Kilmer Opens Up About His Cancer Battle

Earlier this year, after much speculation surrounding the status of his health, actor Val Kilmer finally confirmed that he has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

The rumors started after the Top Gun star’s friend and actor Michael Douglas revealed in an interview that Kilmer was “dealing with” cancer. Concerns grew even more when the actor was spotted walking around with a breathing aid on his neck back in 2015.

Radar Online

Kilmer initially denied all the rumors, and wrote a Facebook post to reassure fans that he was doing fine and labelled Douglas as “misinformed.”

“Some fans have mistakenly thought my silence about my personal issues meant that somehow I wasn’t being responsible to my health, because of my reliance on prayer and Love. Nothing could be further from the truth,” wrote Kilmer.

A few months after commenting on the speculations, Kilmer backtracked on his statement, and admitted that he did “have a healing of cancer” during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session in May.

“He [Michael Douglas] was probably trying to help me cause press probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen altho [sic] healing all the time,” Kilmer explained.

Even through cancer and the invasive treatments, the actor has kept busy since the AMA. At the was promoting his film Cinema Twain, which tells the story of author Mark Twain’s life, and more recently he starred in The Snowman.

He recently sat down to chat with The Hollywood Reporter and opened up about his life since the cancer diagnosis.

Britney Spears’s Sister Opens Up About “Almost Losing” Her Daughter

Earlier this year, singer Britney Spears and her family received some terrible news. The pop star’s eight-year-old nice, Maddie, was involved in a serious ATV accident and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Maddie was riding in an off-road vehicle in Kentwood, Los Angeles when it flipped over, sending her into a nearby pond, where she remained unconscious for several minutes.

Daily Mail

The young girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital where she was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). She was hospitalized for five days before she was cleared to go home with her mother, Spears’s sister, Jamie-Lynn, and stepfather, Jamie Watson, by her side.

Jamie-Lynn did not address the incident for a while, but when she was ready, she took to social media to express how she felt.

Hollywood Life

A few months ago, she said she was living a “mother’s worst nightmare,” when the accident occurred. She added, “I’ll never stop thanking each of you for your prayers, because we recognize the miracle it created. We are beyond blessed, and we will NEVER forget y’all, and God’s unbelievable mercy.”

Jamie-Lynn, Britney, and the rest of the family ensured Maddie returned back to her regularly scheduled activities like attending school, celebrating holidays like Valentine’s Day, and hanging out at Disney World with her cousins.

Ten months after “almost losing” her daughter, Jamie-Lynn is finally comfortable with sharing more details about the accident, and thanks the “angels” who saved Maddie.

Update Reveals How Michael Buble’s Son Is Doing Since Undergoing Cancer Treatment

Shortly before the 2016 holiday season, singer Michael Buble received life-changing news about his son. Three-year-old Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer, and had to immediately undergo treatment before it spread.

Daily Mirror

Buble and his wife, Luisana, confirmed the devastating news in a statement on Facebook. It read: “We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US. We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children. Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well. At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing.”

Buble, who was set to host the Brit Awards a few weeks later, immediately put all his plans on hold to be with his family during the difficult time.

Since the cancer was caught early, Noah’s prognosis was good. A few months into his treatment, the family shared an update with their supporters, and expressed their gratitude to all the well-wishers.

“We are so grateful to report that our son Noah has been progressing well during his treatment and the doctors are very optimistic about the future for our little boy,” read the statement released in February. “He has been brave throughout and we continue to be inspired by his courage. We thank God for the strength he has given all of us. Our gratitude to his doctors and caretakers cannot be put into words.”

It continued, “We’d like to thank the thousands of people that have sent their prayers and good wishes to us. As we continue this journey we are greatly comforted by your support and love.”

At the time, Noah’s aunt, Daniela Lopilata told the media that the “cancer has gone.”

“Yes, Noah is recovering and we’re very happy that’s the case. His parents will speak when they want to do so,” she added.

‘Young And The Restless’ Star Shares Update After Suicidal Crisis

Kristoff St. John, best known for playing Neil Winters on the long-running soap opera The Young and The Restless, has been dealing with some heavy personal issues over the last few years.

St. John lost his 24-year-old son, Julian, in 2014 after he committed suicide while getting treatment at a hospital in Long Beach, California.

Following Julian’s untimely passing, the grieving father filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the hospital for failing to protect his son, who battled schizophrenia and was considered a high risk patient.

Since then, St. John and his ex-wife, Mia, have been trying to raise awareness for mental health, and they have also taken to social media on a few occasions to share tributes and celebrate Julian’s short life.

Despite the amount of time that has passed, and all the sweet tributes, St. John has struggled to come to terms with his loss. In an interview with ET Online, the actor said that he was “still angry.”

Unfortunately, St. John’s anger and pain forced him to take some drastic measures, and this past October, TMZ reported that the Emmy Award-winning actor was transported to a hospital after he allegedly threatened to kill himself.

According to the reports, the actor had allegedly threatened to commit suicide with a gun just a month shy of the anniversary of his son’s death. St. John allegedly sent photos of himself holding a gun to his head to a former lover, who then alerted the cops.

Police confiscated two guns from the actor and took to him to a hospital, where he was to be held under a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation.

At the time neither St John nor any of the parties involved have commented on the situation, but now, the actor himself has finally shared an update on his health.

The last couple of months have been extremely tough for Duane “Dog” Chapman and his wife Beth. The couple, best known for their A&E reality show Dog the Bounty Hunter, announced that Beth was diagnosed with throat cancer back in September, after she had been experiencing a persistent cough.

A few weeks after the shocking revelation, Beth underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove the “plum-sized tumor” that had been blocking her breathing. Since Beth’s diagnosis, the pair have been keeping their fans in the loop about her prognosis, and in their last update they shared that doctors gave her “50/50 chances.”

Beth’s fight is also documented in their two-hour A&E special Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives. During the heartbreaking trailer, Beth admitted that although she will keep up the fight, she doesn’t “see a lot of optimism.”

Shortly after the trailer aired, Dog and Beth, who have been married for 16 years, sat down for an exclusive interview with People, to discuss Beth’s journey, and how she has been coping.

“I take it one day at a time,” Beth told People. “And I believe in the power of prayer.” Dog added, “She’s very tough, and she can beat this.”

Dog has been Beth’s biggest supporter throughout the dark times.

“When we made a pledge many years ago I said I’d love her in sickness and in health until death do us part,” said Dog. “And that truth has really, really come alive in my mind. And I have to stand on that; I gave her an oath that I would love her forever. And thank God it’s not till death do us part at this point.”

At the time, Beth still had to undergo multiple tests in order to determine the next course of treatment. Now, a week since their interview, Dog has some good news about his wife’s cancer prognosis.

Dog The Bounty Hunter Opens Up About His Wife’s Cancer Battle

This past September, Beth Chapman, the star of the A&E show Dog the Bounty Hunter, received some devastating news about her health. Chapman revealed in an open letter that she had been diagnosed with stage two throat cancer.

“I’ve been dealt my share of unexpected blows over the course of my almost fifty years but nothing as serious as the one I heard from my doctors two weeks ago when they uttered those dreaded three words, ‘You have cancer,” Beth wrote.

TV Guide

Doctors informed her that the “plum-sized tumor” was blocking her breathing, so she had to undergo “immediate surgery.” Two weeks later, she went under the knife for a 12-hour procedure to remove the cancerous growth.

Last week, two months after the operation, Beth and her husband, Duane “Dog” Chapman, shared an update on her condition, revealing that at one point doctors gave her “50/50 chances.”

“As I start this battle, I don’t see a lot of optimism,” Beth said in an exclusive clip from the couple’s upcoming two-hour A&E special Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives.

However, despite her fears, she is continuing to fight as hard as she can, and Dog is remaining by her side as her No. 1 supporter. The TV star recently opened up about his wife’s battle in an exclusive interview with People.

An Embarrassing Viral Video Almost Took The Life Of A Miss USA Contestant

From the moment Caitlin Upton started her now-infamous answer at the 2007 Miss Teen USA pageant, it was destined to become a viral video.

With host Mario Lopez holding the microphone for her, Upton was asked a seemingly easy question by Friday Night Lights actress Aimee Teegarden: what were her thoughts on the statistic that one in five Americans can’t locate their own country on a map? What followed was a rambling, confused answer that mentioned people who don’t own maps, Iraq, South Africa, and why America needs to prepare children for the future.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww?feature=oembed]

Like other viral videos, Upton’s answer was featured on news broadcasts around the world, parodied, shared endlessly, and watched over and over. At the time, it seemed like a bit of harmless fun. But years later, Upton has revealed the harmful impact the video had on her life.

Doing the talk show circuit after her gaffe became a hit on YouTube, Upton said that she was simply overwhelmed by the excitement of the pageant, and didn’t understand the question when it was asked. When the Today show gave her a chance to give another response, she did a much better job:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQKNvPn3V-8?feature=oembed]

Well personally, my friends and I, we know exactly where the United States is on our map. I don’t know anyone else who doesn’t. And if the statistics are correct, I believe that there should be more emphasis on geography in our education so people will learn how to read maps better.

But that wasn’t enough for some people, and Upton reveals that over the years she’s been the target of some vicious bullying, both online and in real life…

Sharon Osborne Gives Update On Simon Cowell’s Condition After Hospitalization

After Simon Cowell fell down the stairs last week, he was rushed to the hospital. Fans have been worried about how he has been doing, especially because he hasn’t returned to America’s Got Talent yet.

He said, “I’d gone to get some hot milk because I felt ropey. On the way back upstairs, I just remember feeling really dizzy. Next thing I know someone was putting a neck brace on me and I had a terrible headache, which must have been from me hitting the stairs. I was worried at first that I’d done some real damage.”

Cowell was brought to the hospital for tests, which resulted in him taking some time off from his duties as a judge on America’s Got Talent. His fellow judge, Sharon Osbourne, has given us an update on how he is doing and why he hasn’t come back yet…

9 Years After Her Case Rocked The Country, What Happened To Casey Anthony?

Americans were glued to their TV screens when the story of a missing 2-year-old from Florida gradually turned into a murder case with a shocking conclusion. But what ever happened to Casey Anthony, the woman at the center of the decade’s biggest true crime story?

She was called a “Monster Mom,” but what sort of life is she leading today?Red Huber / AP

When 2-year-old Caylee Anthony from Orlando, Florida vanished in June 2008, the hunt to find her quickly became national news. But a number of strange details made this different from most missing child cases. For one thing, Caylee had been missing for more than a month before her grandmother, Cindy Anthony, called the police to report her disappearance.

And it was soon revealed that Caylee’s mother Casey wasn’t a typical grieving parent. During the month of Caylee’s disappearance she partied at nightclubs, got a tattoo, and used a friend’s stolen checkbook to go on a shopping spree.

Soon after the search for Caylee began, her remains were found in a wooded area less than a mile from Anthony’s home, and Anthony was charged with the first degree murder of her daughter.

This photo of Anthony was famously taken while her daughter was missing.Know Your Meme

Over six weeks, as many as 40 million Americans tuned in to Anthony’s trial, and conversation about her case on Twitter broke records for the social media website. It also attracted some very public attention, as over 1,000 protesters lined up outside the Orange County Courthouse, insisting Anthony was guilty.

Throughout the case, Anthony’s defense team tried to prove that her parents were responsible for Caylee’s death, and blamed her strange behavior on abuse from her father and brother. Her parents also took the stand, as her father George denied he had abused Anthony and her mother Cindy broke down while listening to her 911 call.

But after following her trial for weeks, viewers were shocked by the outcome…
