10 Bizarre Ways Your Body Is Telling You To Drink More Water

The average human body is 60% water, so it should come as to no surprise that not drinking enough is detrimental to your health.

We lose water through our sweat glands and even just by breathing, so it’s important that we drink plenty of the fluid each day to replenish our organs.

As our bodies age, we don’t retain water the same way as we used to, and we often miss some of the signs that we’re in need of hydration. Trust me, it’s more than just feeling thirsty, and if you don’t pay attention to these 10 warning signs, you may be jeopardizing your overall well-being.

Your doctor tells you to keep hydrated when you’re sick for good reason. Water flushes out toxins in your body so that your organs can function properly. When your organs need water to survive, they’ll start to borrow water stored in your blood cells, which will do you no good in the long run.

When I say snack, I don’t mean a bag of carrots. Dehydration impacts your digestive track, causing bacteria to grow rapidly in your intestines. Like most bacteria, they crave sugar, which helps to keep them alive.

No one wants to look like their friend’s mom. As we grow older, our bodies need more water because our sensation of thirst gradually decreases. Water helps keep our skin moisturized and look young and fresh, so not drinking enough will only dry out your skin, which will cause wrinkles and speed up the aging process.

When your body is borrowing water from your blood cells, there’s not enough of them pumping to give you energy, so you’re going to feel lethargic. Instead of burrowing under your bedsheets, replenish your system with some life-saving H2O.

This one may come as a surprise to you, because water probably makes you feel bloated, but it’s actually true.

If you aren’t consuming enough liquids, your body can’t burn fat properly, which will encourage you to eat more and will slow down your metabolism.

These next ones are key indicators that you need to drink more water!

A New Swim Suit Has Just Been Released, That You Can’t Get Wet

We’ve seen a lot of stupid things in fashion throughout the years. There are constantly trends that we are skeptical of and it seems as if fashion in 2018 has taken a serious turn for the worse. We have seen some pretty ridiculous trends this year and I think it just got a lot worse.

Probably the weirdest addition to the runway is a bathing suit, that while stylish, is “water-phobic.” This wasn’t just one idiotic designer either, they’re starting to trend online and honestly I’m trying to figure out if I can even wear this to the beach or not?

These bathing suits are made out of a fabric that is dry clean only. They clearly state on the description, “Cannot be worn in water.” Seriously, what?

The companies designing these “swimsuits” are saying they’re perfect for pool parties. I don’t know what these people are thinking because I thought pool parties were for, I don’t know, swimming?

People on Twitter are obviously not taking this swimsuit too well and are completely calling out the company.

This is what people are saying.

Is It Possible To Drink Water Wrong? Some People Think So

Drinking enough water every day is essential for our health. Because we lose so much water each day, it is extremely important to replace that water lost.

Water has an endless list of benefits to our bodies. It can help us lose weight, clear our skin, and just keep our bodies overall healthier. If you’re not sure if you’re drinking enough water see: 10 Ways Your Body Tells You To Drink More Water.

Something many people don’t know is that it actually matters the way we drink water, to allow ourselves to get the maximum amount of nutrients from the water we’re drinking.

For example, chugging water doesn’t allow your body to have time to absorb all the nutrients it has. Getting our eight glasses a day is hard enough, now science is saying that it is unhealthy to drink water while standing up. Now your thirst will have to wait until you have somewhere to sit down.

Not only does your body not receive all the nutrients from drinking water standing up, it can also have negative health consequences on your body. Here are five things that could happen if you drink water standing up:

Switching From Soda To Water Will Improve Your Life, Here’s How

It’s no secret that water is healthier for you than soda. That being said, it’s amazing to see just how much of a difference you will see, from making the switch from soda to more water.

Experts tell us we should stick to 8×8 rule when drinking water, that means eight 8 ounce glasses per day. Even though that sounds like a lot, our body needs that much to stay healthy. Water is your body’s principal chemical component and makes up about 60 percent of your body weight. Your body depends on water to survive. Every cell, tissue and organ in your body needs water to work properly. For example, water: Gets rid of wastes through urination, perspiration and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and protects sensitive tissues

Lack of water can lead to dehydration — a condition that occurs when you don’t have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.

So, we know we need to drink a lot of water, but is there even a big difference that we’re drinking soda instead? The answer is yes.

If you make the switch from soda to water you will notice a long list of things changing in your body, for the better.

10 Ways Your Body Tells You To Drink More Water

It probably sounds repetitive by now, but doctors aren’t kidding when they repeatedly remind you to drink more water.

Many bodily functions rely on fluids, like water, to work properly, and since we tend to forget to drink, our bodies have many interesting ways of reminding us.

Some of these symptoms are very obvious, while others may mislead you to think that something other than dehydration is the cause of your discomfort.

Here are 10 ways your body is trying to tell you that you really need to drink more water:

1. You have frequent headaches

When you’re dehydrated, your blood is no longer as thin as it should be, which means your brain’s oxygen levels also deplete and end up causing a headache. So instead of taking a painkiller, try drinking a glass of water as soon you feel a headache coming on.

2. You have bad breath

Water helps with the production of saliva, so when your body doesn’t have enough fluids, your mouth will start to dry up. The lack of saliva could cause bad breath, but thankfully, you can fix it by staying hydrated.

3. You feel fatigued

If you’re feeling that afternoon slump, take a walk to the water cooler even if you don’t feel thirsty. Dehydration forces your metabolism to shut down and make you feel tired. If you prefer a drink with a little more flavor, unsweetened tea is a great alternative.

4. You have muscle cramps

This is an indication that your body could be experiencing an electrolyte imbalance. Drinking water is the trick to replenishing your body’s magnesium and sodium chloride levels, especially if you’re active throughout the day.

5. Your pee looks different

The color of your pee is a good way to monitor your body’s hydration. A healthy urine should be a pale straw yellow-colored, so if your pee is noticeably darker then you should definitely increase your water intake.

Doctors Aren’t Convinced That The Latest “Raw Water” Trend Is As Healthy As It Claims

The latest trend in food and drink is one that you may not fully understand. While you may have held onto hope that 2018 would lean away from the outrageous trends of previous years, you probably should have known better. Now, the latest trends will have the masses drinking “raw water” and no we are not kidding.

What is “raw water” you might ask? Well, it’s a new movement that has started on the west coast of America, where people are trying to “get off the water grid.” This so-called beneficial product is supposed to be unfiltered, unsterilized, untreated spring water. Apparently this gives it a probiotic quality that is good for your health.

The founder of Live Water, one of the companies who sells this “raw water,” has some strong words about tap water. “Tap water? You’re drinking toilet water with birth control drugs in them,” Mukhande Singh, founder of Live Water told the NY Times. “Chloramine, and on top of that they’re putting in fluoride. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it’s a mind-control drug that has no benefit to our dental health.”

Live Water sells “raw water” in 2.5 gallon jugs for $36.99 and then you can refill it for $14.99. Singh’s Live Water is unlike your regular bottled water because it has an expiration date of only one month. “It stays most fresh within one lunar cycle of delivery,” he said. “If it sits around too long, it’ll turn green. People don’t even realize that because all their water’s dead, so they never see it turn green.”

There are also people installing systems in their house that collect their own water. The system called Zero Mass Water pulls moisture from the atmosphere and filters it into a container so you don’t have to have it chemically treated. However doctors have a completely different take on this trend…

11-Year-Old Invented A Device To Help Keep Drinking Water Safe

Kids do say the darnedest things, but occasionally they do the “darnedest” things that blow you away. An 11-year-old girl from Colorado, Gitanjali Rao, just won $25,000 from the Young Scientist Challenge, as “America’s top young scientist,” for her invention. She designed a compact device that is able to detect if there is any lead in the water that you are drinking.

Rao was inspired to do something after she became aware of the Flint water crisis, and how the residents of Flint, Michigan were being forced to drink contaminated water. Water that was contaminated by the city itself when it decided to cut costs and switch to a different system of pipes. The pipes were not properly treated, causing them to rust and leech lead and other toxins into the water.

“After I learned about Flint,” said Rao, “I continued to research and follow it for the next couple years. Then, I saw my parents testing for lead in our water and that is pretty much what sparked the idea. I realized that using test strips would take quite a few tries to get accurate results and I wanted to do something to change this, not only for my parents but for the residents of Flint and places like Flint around the world.”

You Probably Aren’t Drinking Enough Water, And This Is Why You Should Be

It’s the source of life. Humans are approximately 75% water, and we need to drink it constantly or else we risk many negative side effects, up to and including death within a few days.

Many people think water is something they can get from other sources like juice, tea, or soda. Unfortunately, while these do have varying levels of water, it is just not the same as having the pure H2O!

Here are just a few of the reasons you should start carrying a water bottle around with you wherever you go!

Feeling sluggish? Always tired? Maybe you just aren’t staying properly hydrated. Drinking water throughout the day allows your body to function properly in everything from muscle movement to organ activity.

Your brain is mostly water content and it also needs to remain saturated in order to stay clear and in focus!

That’s right, just drinking water is enough to begin shedding those extra few pounds. Water helps remove the by-products of fat, makes you feel fuller and reduces hunger, and boosts your metabolism so your body works better!

By replacing unhealthy drinks with water, you’re already making healthy choices!

10 Things The World Will Run Out Of If We Don’t Change Our Ways

We’ve squandered a lot of the resources our planet has to offer so now there’s a lot of things we’re running out of.

Here are 10 things you’d be surprised to learn we are running low on, globally.

Medical research has come a long way where we are able to treat, and even prevent certain diseases from spreading. Sooner than we think, we could actually end up being sent back to the dark ages of medicine.

Thanks to the rise in antibiotic resistant infections, it’s quite possible.

More than 50% of the population receives a prescription for antibiotics every year to treat various sicknesses and diseases.

Prescriptions that have been used for decades are being debunked. For example, there are now only two effective treatments for gonorrhea, which affects 78 million people. If left untreated, it can lead to infertility and an increased risk of HIV.

It’s time to stock up on M&M’s and Mars bars, because everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure could be running out.

Producing chocolate is not financially viable. Each new crop of coco takes five years to grow and has to be harvested manually. It can also only be grown in certain areas around the world, typically developing countries.

Most coco plants are grown in West African countries including Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon, who produce a total of 3 billion kilograms a year. Americans alone consume 1.3 billion a year, so production is not able to keep up with the global demand.

Increase in fair trade laws has also made it difficult for farmers to financially keep up, so who knows how long this industry will last.

While this one may seem hard to believe, because if you go to any beach you will find sand for miles. Deserts are also full of this stuff and they make up 33 percent of the world’s landmass. So how can we be running out?

Sand is the most essential item in concrete, and humanity uses a lot of concrete. While the United States uses a lot of concrete, it’s nowhere near how much China has been using. Between 2011-2013 China built 32.3 million houses and 4.5 million kilometers of road. By doing this they used more cement than America has used in the entire twentieth century.

Desert sand is eroded by wind, not water, which makes it too fine to be used in construction. This creates a problem where our demand will not be able to keep up with supply.

At this rate, construction workers will need to seek alternative materials in the next 50 years.

With the way we have been treating our marine life, it’s estimated that we could run out of seafood by 2048. This is a huge problem because more than a billion people worldwide depend on fish as their primary source of protein. Also, 120 million people rely on fishing as their primary source of income. It would be a huge impact felt around the world, if we ran out of fish.

Gold is one of the most sought after luxuries in the world, and it’s also one of the more rarest elements.

Since it’s so hard to find, we only have twenty years worth of mineable gold reserves left.

After all the gold has been mined, it’s value will skyrocket, causing the rich elite to invest in the commodity as opposed to things like real estate, which will stimulate the economy. This could have a serious impact on some of the biggest world’s superpowers.

Ducks, Dogs and Other Animals Have Started Riding The Waves

While it’s well-known that chickens can’t fly, it doesn’t mean they have to be stuck as landlubbers all the time!

Karly Venezia (human) lives in the southernmost part of the Florida Keys and loves to take her paddleboard out for a jaunt on the water. However, she discovered that she wasn’t the only one who wanted to ride the waves.

Turns out, her one-year-old pet chicken, Loretta, shares her love of the sea and one day decided to join her for a paddle around the islands.

“Loretta’s very curious and follows us around the yard,” said Venezia, “it only seemed natural to us to take Loretta paddleboarding and boating and things that we do with our dogs.”

Venezia says she just loves to hang out with Loretta and that the activity calms them both down after a long day. “For us, I think, coming out here and getting to enjoy the beautiful sunsets is what makes living in the Keys so special.” she says.

Loretta isn’t alone in her curiosity of the great blue sea, as it turns out there’s a lot more animals that believe in the benefits of this fun exercise!
