Sometimes true love is just a friend request away. Well, that and six days of getting to know each other. This trajectory may be unimaginable to most, but for Chidimma Amedu, marrying a woman he’d just met was perfectly acceptable.
Last year, Chidimma was engaged to marry a woman he’d been dating for a while with a wedding scheduled for December. But they suddenly broke up in March, leaving him single and unhappy.
As December came to an end, Chidimma had thoughts of the marriage that never was. He realized he was sick of being single and was ready to marry the right woman, no matter how he met her.
An eccentric plan
Facebook is typically used to stay in touch with your loved ones and to read fun articles like this one. But desperate times called for desperate measures and Chidimma was ready to do something drastic to attract the attention of his wife-to-be.
On December 30th, he put up a Facebook status. It said “Am of age to and I am ready to say I do and am wasting no time. Send in your applications – the most qualified will be married on January 6, 2018. Application closes 12 midnight, 31/12/2017.”
He asked any woman interested in marrying him to reply. Naturally, most people thought this was a joke. So Chidimma posted another status assuring them that he intended to go through with this plan. “Am serious about this oh,” he wrote, “and don’t say you did not see it on time. Good luck.”
Within a few hours he received a couple responses. Some were serious. Others thought it was still a joke. But one comment caught his eye.
