Police Investigating After Mary Duggar’s Death

On June 9th, the Duggar family announced that their matriarch, Jim Bob’s mother Mary, had passed away. Grandma Duggar was a staple on the family’s show, and was well loved by the family. The Duggars announced Mary’s death on their Facebook page, but did not reveal a cause of death.

We are so sad to share that Grandma Duggar (Mary) passed away Sunday afternoon, June 9th, 2019. Mary Lester Duggar grew up in Farmington, Arkansas and was married almost 50 years to J.L. (Jimmy Lee) Duggar who preceded her in death.

Mary found great joy in sharing her love for Jesus and her own story of how at age 15 she asked Christ to forgive her for her sins. It was at that time she committed the rest of her life to live for Him, a commitment she kept with devotion. She loved to share with others how they too could be forgiven of their sins, live a fulfilling life as a Christian, and one day spend eternity in heaven.

She is survived by her daughter Deanna and her son Jim Bob, 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, with several more great-grandchildren on the way!

Mary Duggar was also a successful real estate broker who owned Good Neighbor Realty and was noted in Northwest Arkansas for being the broker who put together the property sale for the John Q. Hammons Holiday Inn & Convention Center in Springdale.

Grandma Mary Duggar has been on the TLC shows, “19 Kids & Counting” and “Counting On” with her family for over 15 years. She is greatly loved and will be missed so very much! She lived a tremendous life as a follower of Christ, a wife, a devoted mother, a loving mother-in-law, and a much-loved grandmother. Proverbs 31:10-31 describes the virtuous woman, indeed she personified these beautiful verses with her life.

We deeply appreciate your prayers for our family and all who loved Mary during this time.

Now, there is more information surrounding the death of Mary Duggar, and police are investigating the sudden death. That Sunday, the family was preparing for Jason and James, two of the boys, to return home after a Christian boot camp. Mary Duggar allegedly fell into the pool, which was the cause of death according to the Washington County Coroner Roger W. Morris.

The 911 call placed from the Duggar family home was released, and it was revealed that Mary was unconscious before the paramedics arrived.

“Call came in of a possible drowning at [address redacted]..that’s [address redacted]. Big house in the back…older woman, 14 echo — unconscious. Medics are responding,” the call said.

Jana Duggar, the eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle, said that on the morning of her death, Mary was doing what she loved – worshipping.

“On her last morning spent here on earth I drove Grandma to church where she worshiped her Savior,” Jana wrote on Instagram. “Later that afternoon, she went to meet Him face to face! I’d say that’s probably how she would’ve chosen to finish out the day if she got to pick. 😊”

It’s so sad that Mary’s death was a preventable accident, and I’m sure the family wishes there was more they could do.

Our prayers are with the entire Duggar family as they go through this difficult time.

Jill Duggar Says Having Sex “3 To 4 Times A Week Is A Good Start”

Here’s something you never thought you’d see: one of the Duggars is advocating for lots of sex if you want a happy marriage. Jill Duggar-Dillard, who has been married to her husband Derrick for five years, wrote on the family website about “how to love your husband,” and she notes that intimacy is a key factor.

“Have sex often!” the mother of two wrote. “You both need this time together regularly (3-4 times a week is a good start. lol). And when you may not be able to actually have intercourse for a period of time or for health issues, find other ways to have fun and be intimate.”

Duggar also advised against self-pleasure, saying that you should “always be available” for your spouse.

“Let your spouse know that you’re aways available,” Duggar wrote. “Guard against fulfilling sexual desires alone. Be open with your spouse about your desires and change things up to keep it exciting! (Philippians 2:3-4; 1 Corinthians 7:5) If you’re struggling with sex with your spouse, GET HELP! See a doctor and/or licensed counselor and don’t be afraid to get second opinions!”

For reference, these are the Bible verses Duggar was talking about.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” – Philippians 2:3-4

“Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” – 1 Corinthians 7:5

Michelle Duggar also spoke about being “available” for your husband, so it’s clear where her daughter learned it from.

“In your marriage there will be times you’re going to be very exhausted,” the matriarch said in 2014. “Your hubby comes home after a hard day’s work, you get the baby to bed, and he is going to be looking forward to that time with you. Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love that he has, and you always need to be available when he calls.”

Duggar also suggested making weekly date nights a priority.

“Even if you can’t go out, you can put the kids to bed early, have a candlelit dinner and watch a marriage video on YouTube and then discuss it together or read a marriage book together or take fun personality quizzes online!” she said. “Anything to learn more about each other and strengthen your marriage!”

Some other tips from Duggar include:

  • Be open about everything
  • Pray for your husband
  • Encourage your husband
  • Get at least 15 minutes of uninterrupted time to talk every day
  • Look nice for him
  • Be open abut spending habits
  • Don’t name call, even jokingly
  • Make family time a priority
  • Don’t go to bed angry
  • Don’t let habits become problems
  • Give at least a 6-second kiss when coming and going

It’s interesting to hear a Duggar be so open about their sex life. For a family who is so reserved and conservative, it’s unusual for them to speak on something so intimate.

What do you think the key to a successful marriage is?

Jessa Seewald Had Her Baby And I Love The Name

Jessa Seewald, better known as Jessa Duggar, has finally given birth to her third child, and while to us it seems like her pregnancy has gone on forever, Jessa said it felt like it flew by. Just last week, the Counting On commented on how quick her pregnancy felt.

“I honestly can’t believe it,” she said. “It seems like this pregnancy has flown by! Can anybody else attest to that fact that when you have toddler or two keeping you on your toes, pregnancy just seems to fly by??”

Jessa, who is already a mom to her two boys Spurgeon, 3, and Henry, 2, with her husband Ben Seewald, said that when she found out she was expecting, she thought it would be another boy.

“From the day we found out we were expecting, we both guessed boy, and if our predictions are right then we already have a ton the clothing and accessories ready to pass down! At the same time, we would absolutely love it if we found out we were having a girl — though we’ve joked that we’d be starting from square one and might have to learn a few things,” the couple said.

But, they were wrong! Jessa gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, weighing in at 7lbs 14oz. Considering her boys were both about 10lbs, Jessa says her little girl feels so small. The Seewalds also shared their daughter’s name, and I absolutely love it! They posted the announcement on their family website.

Ivy Jane Seewald was welcomed into the world Sunday, May 26th. We were getting ready for church when my water broke, and we were thinking ‘Well, I guess we have a change of plans! After three and a half hours of labor, Ivy was born at 5:57pm.

Her due date was June 5th, and since both of our boys went five days past their due date, we thought we would go late again. We were so surprised when she came two weeks earlier than her brothers. We definitely weren’t expecting that! Ivy was born at home weighing 7lbs 14oz and 20 1/2 inches long.

She feels so tiny compared to her siblings! Spurgeon was born at nearly 10lbs, and Henry close to 9lbs. We’re so grateful to God for this precious gift. She is already so loved. Her big brothers adore her!

Some of the other Duggars congratulated the couple on their new arrival on Instagram.

“Congratulations!!!!!” Anna Duggar, Josh’s wife, said. “I love the name!!!!! 🙌🏻💞”

“She is SOOOO sweet!!😍😍” sister Joy-Anna Duggar-Forsyth wrote.

“Auntie can’t wait to meet this little doll baby! 😍❤️❤️❤️” sister Jinger Vuolo-Duggar wrote.

“Congrats y’all!!! She’s the cutest! 😍” sister Jana Duggar said.

“Congratulations💝 So happy for y’all!!!” brother Joseph Duggar said.

“So precious! ❤️ -Lauren,” sister-in-law Lauren Duggar said.

Having three kids aged three and under is a huge undertaking, but if any family can handle it, it’s the Duggars.

Congratulations on your new addition, and beautiful name!

Joy-Anna Duggar Expecting Baby #2

Joy-Anna Duggar Expecting Baby #2

I know I shouldn’t be surprised by the Duggar family growing any more, but somehow I always am. Jessa Duggar is expecting her new addition any day now, and her younger sister, Joy-Anna, just announced she’s expecting as well!

Joy-Anna and her husband, Austin Forsyth, already share a son Gideon who is 14 months old, and announced on Instagram that they’ll be welcoming another baby in November of 2019.

“Some of you have guessed, some of you had no clue… November, 2019 Baby Forsyth #2 is Due!!👶🏼❤️ Cannot wait to meet this new little one! Gideon is going to be such a great big brother!! #baby2due#babyforsyth#pregnant

The reality TV stars also made a statement to Us Weekly about their exciting news.

“Our favorite math is addition and we are very excited to share that the Forsyth family is adding a member!” the Counting On stars said. “Marriage and being a mom and dad to Gideon has already far exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to loving another little one and seeing what special dynamic he or she brings to our family. Table for 4 sounds perfect!”

The first time Joy-Anna was pregnant, there were a lot of rumors surrounding it. Always seen as one of the rebels of the family, many people started to question if she had premarital sex with her fiancee, as her wedding was moved up by a few months. Not long after, she announced she was expecting, and her baby bump clearly grew pretty quickly.

Austin did admit he and his wife-to-be broke some rules, but it all sounded pretty innocent.

“The only time that I can think of when I overstepped my bounds with my future father-in-law was probably staying up talking past curfew,” Forsyth lamented in an interview. “Just letting time slip past you and being in a good conversation…it’s really easy to do. That and probably going over the three-second hug. That’s easy to do.”

Now, though, Joy-Anna’s pregnancy has no reason to be speculation-filled, unless we’re trying to figure out whether she’s having a boy or a girl! Grandparents Jim Bob and Michelle are so excited about the new baby, they wrote about it on their website.

“The Bible is right, there is no greater JOY than seeing your children walk in truth,” the couple wrote. “We have loved watching Austin and Joy build their lives together as a married couple and as parents. Their love for God, each other, Gideon, and others is genuine and inspiring. We could not be more thankful as we watch their lives unfold day by day. A new baby will bring even more joy and blessings to their lives and ours. We are on cloud nine that another grandbaby will make a debut in 2019!”

Here’s a break down of the current Duggar children and grandchildren:

  • Josh and Anna Duggar: Mackynzie, 9, Michael, 7, Marcus, 5, Meredith, 3, Mason, 19 months, Baby Duggar, due November 2019
