The latest trend in food and drink is one that you may not fully understand. Now, the latest trends will have the masses drinking “raw water” and no we are not kidding.

What is “raw water” you might ask? Well, it’s a new movement that has started on the west coast of America, where people are trying to “get off the water grid.” This so-called beneficial product is supposed to be unfiltered, unsterilized, untreated spring water. Apparently this gives it a probiotic quality that is good for your health.

The founder of Live Water, one of the companies who sells this “raw water,” has some strong words about tap water. “Tap water? You’re drinking toilet water with birth control drugs in them,” Mukhande Singh, founder of Live Water told the NY Times. “Chloramine, and on top of that they’re putting in fluoride. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it’s a mind-control drug that has no benefit to our dental health.”

Live Water sells “raw water” in 2.5 gallon jugs for $36.99 and then you can refill it for $14.99. Singh’s Live Water is unlike your regular bottled water because it has an expiration date of only one month. “It stays most fresh within one lunar cycle of delivery,” he said. “If it sits around too long, it’ll turn green. People don’t even realize that because all their water’s dead, so they never see it turn green.”

There are also people installing systems in their house that collect their own water. The system called Zero Mass Water pulls moisture from the atmosphere and filters it into a container so you don’t have to have it chemically treated. 11-Year-Old Invented A Device To Help Keep Drinking Water Safe

Kids do say the darnedest things, but occasionally they do the “darnedest” things that blow you away. An 11-year-old girl from Colorado, Gitanjali Rao, just won $25,000 from the Young Scientist Challenge, as “America’s top young scientist,” for her invention. She designed a compact device that is able to detect if there is any lead in the water that you are drinking.


Rao was inspired to do something after she became aware of the Flint water crisis, and how the residents of Flint, Michigan were being forced to drink contaminated water. Water that was contaminated by the city itself when it decided to cut costs and switch to a different system of pipes. The pipes were not properly treated, causing them to rust and leech lead and other toxins into the water.

“After I learned about Flint,” said Rao, “I continued to research and follow it for the next couple years. Then, I saw my parents testing for lead in our water and that is pretty much what sparked the idea. I realized that using test strips would take quite a few tries to get accurate results and I wanted to do something to change this, not only for my parents but for the residents of Flint and places like Flint around the world.”

Ducks, Dogs and Other Animals Have Started Riding The Waves

Karly Venezia (human) lives in the southernmost part of the Florida Keys and loves to take her paddleboard out for a jaunt on the water. However, she discovered that she wasn’t the only one who wanted to ride the waves.

Turns out, her one-year-old pet chicken, Loretta, shares her love of the sea and one day decided to join her for a paddle around the islands.

“Loretta’s very curious and follows us around the yard,” said Venezia, “it only seemed natural to us to take Loretta paddleboarding and boating and things that we do with our dogs.”

Venezia says she just loves to hang out with Loretta and that the activity calms them both down after a long day. “For us, I think, coming out here and getting to enjoy the beautiful sunsets is what makes living in the Keys so special.” she says.

Loretta isn’t alone in her curiosity of the great blue sea, as it turns out there’s a lot more animals that believe in the benefits of this fun exercise!
