Despite Oversleeping, Teenage Snowboarder Wins America’s First Olympic Gold Medal

A 17-year-old snowboarder has won the United States’s first Olympic gold medal, despite oversleeping and binge watching Netflix the night before.

Redmond Gerard, from Silverthorne, Colorado, had been watching the popular video-on-demand network, making him sleep through his alarm the next morning.

According to the Metro, when the five foot five teenager woke up, he realized he had misplaced his jacket, and was forced to borrow his friend’s.

Despite his teammate, Kyle Mack, having to drag him out of bed, Gerard managed to earn the country’s first gold medal.
